We are happy to present you with the New York State Emergency Nurses Association's latest electronic newsletter. It's packed full of information and many opportunities for our members.  As always, we welcome your comments, feedback and suggestions!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Audrey Dupree-Sealey, PhD, FNP, RN

In January of this year I asked you to get on the NYSCENA train. Well thank you for your continued support on this journey.

The latest stop on the NYSCENA train was in San Diego Ca. at the ENA National Convention.

I am proud to announce that New York State was in the house. We had 41 delegates, two national board members and 5 first time delegates.

At the Delegate sessions I received the State President award. As I walked across the stage to accept the award, a feeling of overwhelming pride and humility came over me. It was breath taking to look out at the sea of Delegates.

The next day at the Opening when JoAnn Lazarus, President Elect spoke, it all came together when she described the Turtle. "Behold the turtle! it only makes progress when it sticks it's neck out." Walking across that stage my neck was as far out as I could stick it.

New York also won its share of prizes during the convention.

Carol Fazio from Brooklyn New York Kings High Beth Israel, and Lina Rulloda from SUNY Down State won registrations for the 2013 National convention in Nashville. I also I won a coach bag from one of the venders.

The lectures were informative and the local site was breath-taking. We had celebrity status on Friday night when we were formally welcomed at the Pirates baseball game which many of our members attended in support of the ENA Foundation.
Just before the train pulled out of the station headed back home, we attended the First Annual Awards Gala at the Marriott Hotel. Once again NYS was in the spotlight. Marie Ann Teeter was induction into the FAEN and Mr. Robert Breese received the Behind the Scenes Award.

Well, the train is back on track, the next stop will be Tarrytown for the last quarterly meeting for 2012. I hope to see you there.

Sincerely your President

Happy Emergency Nurses Week!

This year's theme, Excellence in Action, truly exemplifies what each of you accomplishes every day. Your dedication to the profession of emergency nursing is appreciated by all your colleagues as well as all your patients.
