Fact:  Allowing an Underage person to drink in your home is illegal.

Fact:  Parents can be prosecuted for allowing Underage drinking in their home.

Fact:  Your Homeowners Insurance can increase or even be cancelled if you allow an underage person to consume alcohol in your home.

Most people are aware of the first two Facts, some don't realize that hosting a party for teenagers and their friends under the age of 21 could affect their Homeowners Insurance.

You can be sued if you allow minors to consume alcohol in your home. If there is a serious injury or severe property damage resulting from underage consumption, your Homeowners Insurance may not provide coverage or the coverage may not be adequate.

Homeowners may be held liable for injuries and damages even if they are not home at the time the underage drinking occurs. Homeowners are liable even after the minors leave their premises. Even if damage is done to someone else's property, you will still be held liable because the drinking occurred on your property.

July is UV Safety Month

 Sun
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun are the main cause of skin cancer. UV damage can also cause wrinkles and blotchy skin. These are just some of the reasons why The Alpha Group is proud to participate in UV Safety Month and help raise awareness of the risks of sun damage.

Anyone can get skin cancer, but the risk is greatest for people with:

  • White or light-colored skin with freckles
  • Blond or red hair
  • Blue or green eyes

You can take steps today to protect your skin:

  • Stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher
  • Cover up with long sleeves and a hat
  • Check your skin regularly for changes
