Reviewing Your Homeowners Policy
Often, homeowners insurance is purchased with the home and then is not thought about again until a claim is made. But since there is little you can do at that point about your coverage, take time periodically to review your policy. Below are a few items to consider:
Review the adequacy of your policy limits. Investigate how much it would cost to replace your home and make sure your policy limit will cover that amount. Don't insure your home for its market value -- it may cost more or less than that to rebuild your home. And even if your home were totally destroyed, you would still have the land. Try to obtain guaranteed replacement cost coverage, where the insurance company will rebuild your home even when the cost exceeds the policy limits. Be aware, however, that some companies no longer offer this coverage and even those that do define guaranteed replacement cost in different ways. Some companies will rebuild your home no matter what the cost, while others cap their coverage based on a certain percentage of the policy's face value. Make sure your policy has an inflation endorsement that increases your coverage annually for increases in construction costs.

June is Men's Health Month
The purpose of Men's Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.
Alarming statistics show men's health is at a great risk. The lives of hundreds of thousands of men will continue to be threatened unless immediate action is taken to combat this growing crisis. Research shows that:

Email Training Needed to Avoid Cyber Battles

Randi Kochman, an attorney with Cole Schotz in Hackensack, N.J., has seen her share of e-mail battles over the years. In one case, e-mails going back and forth between the employee and manager reflected a personal relationship that had gone bad, and the manager and employee allowed their frustrations to play out in e-mail. A case can head south for an employer quickly if a supervisor flies off the handle in e-mail, she noted.

Life Insurance's Recent Overhaul
Courtesy of Evolution of Wealth There was a huge change that took place in the life insurance industry recently. This is driven by a new rule for calculating insurance costs that went into effect January 2009. Truth be told the change has been a lot more gradual than that though. What has been happening is that life insurance costs have been decreasing dramatically since about 2000. The Insurance Information Institute says that term life insurance premiums are now 50 percent lower than they were a decade ago. The internal cost of insurance of cash vallue life insurance policies, such as Whole Life, Universal Life and Variable Life, have also dropped causing a noticeable reduction inpremium rates for these policies. |
