Fall Garden Fair

This year's Fall Garden Fair, Saturday, Sept. 15 from 8 am - noon, is all about grasses. Not the kind you've mowed all summer, the ornamental sorts that make beautiful additions to your home landscape and typically require little water. A wide variety of grasses that will add interest and movement to your landscape will be for sale, and you can tour our new grass garden to help you select some favorites. Learn some cultivation tips at one of our workshops and you'll be ready to get growing. The plant sale and most workshops will be near the USUBC Farmers Market site.

Tours of the Stokes Iris and Ornamental Grass Garden will be given by our team of plant experts every 15 minutes from 9:30 -  11:30 am.

The day's free workshops are:

9 -10 am | Dividing & Working with Ornamental Grasses (Farmers Market tent)

Our greenhouse manager Richard Anderson will teach techniques for growing beautiful ornamental grasses.

10 -11 am | Sustainable Energy, (Wetland Discovery Point)

Join engineer Ken Gardner ̶ who designed the system that powers Wetland Discovery Point with solar energy ̶ to learn about alternative energy options that work for homeowners.

11 am - noon | Incorporating Ornamental Grasses in the Landscape (Farmers Market tent)

Extension assistant professor Britney Hunter teaches this workshop about adding visual interest, amazing textures and beautiful movement to your home landscape with ornamental grasses.

Firewise Landscaping
It's been a destructive and costly fire season in the West, and it's not over yet. The design of a landscape and the plants it includes can often make the difference between saving and losing a home to wildfire.

Firewise Landscaping, a new publication from USU Extension, is available online along with other important wildfire safety resources.
