2009 Chateau Les Fromenteaux Muscadet Sevre Et Maine. The grape is the Melon de Bourgogne grape. The wine is light in color and body, and is intensely mineral driven, a great compliment to oysters, but honestly is dynamite with any fresh shellfish or other seafood. There are a couple of appellations in Muscadet, the best of which is considered to be Muscadet de Sevre et Maine, and the best bottles from that appellation are aged sur-lie, or on the lees, as is this beauty! It's really tasty!

Next, we're going with the 2006 La Spinetta Il Gentile Di Casanova from Tuscany. Scents of super-ripe dark cherries, tobacco, spices and leather waft from the glass as the 2006 Il Gentile di Casanova opens up. A vein of minerality frames the fruit beautifully through to the long, creamy finish. The La Spinetta house style built on ripeness and textural depth is in evidence in this Sangiovese-based red but is not overdone. This is gorgeous juice. (Need I say more?) Wine Advocate 92 points.

Last, but not least, we're goin' south to Argentina. Mendoza that is, for the stunning Paul Hobbs 2008 Bramare Vina Cobos Malbec, Lujan De Coyo; Very ripe, lush and broad, delivering nearly exotic fig and boysenberry fruit that spreads over the palate, with blueberry compote, licorice, mocha and spice notes. The long, velvety finish lets the fruit play out nicely. This pulls no punches, and gets away with it. Less than 2,000 cases produced, and it's here for you to drink!
