Hi,
NEIGH, WILBUR! The horses will be trotting away this time tomorrow so we will be opening early, 8:30 a.m. for all of your beverage needs!
Have a blue ribbon day!
As for the tasting this afternoon, we will be featuring easy drinking, fun, "racy" wines!
2008 Talbott Logan, Monterey, Chardonnay
$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case or $16.99 as part of a mixed case.
The 2008 Talbott Logan Chardonnay is even better than the 2007. Imagine! It is seriously impressive; with a slightly fruitier and more structured style, the 2008 is DELICIOUS! Light straw-colored, the wine displays notes of nectarine, kiwi, orange marmalade, honey, and subtle oak. It is full-bodied, rich, and gorgeous. Robert Parker gives it 92 points!
Elio Perrone Barbera d'Asti Tasmorcan 2009
$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case or $16.99 as part of a mixed case.
This is a delicious Barbera, showing structure, strong varietal backbone, and a lingering finish. This wine is produced from young vines in the Mongovone vineyard. The name means Badger in Piemontese, and was chosen because the animals kept eating the newly-planted Barbera vines. Mongovone is a steep, south-facing vineyard located in Isola d'Asti, that is one of the Asti zone's great vineyard sites. Even from these young vines, the wines have density and personality, and it is a stunner at this price!!!
Wine Advocate 89 Points
2009 Bedrock Old Vine, Sonoma Valley, Zinfandel
$29.99 a bottle, $305.90 for a case and $25.49 as part of a mixed case
For our third wine we are tasting the 2009 Bedrock Old Vine Zinfandel. It is the first appellation Zinfandel from Bedrock! The backbone of this wine comes from the 92-year vines at Morse Vineyard in Glen Ellen. This is powerful but elegant juice,(I love using that word), and like most Bedrock offerings, avoids the over-ripeness and lunkiness of many Zin's out there. The hope here is to show the spice, structure, and dramatic aromatics with mouth-feel found in great Sonoma Valley Zinfandel. Only 350 cases made! Ya' gotta' love it!
For Saturday, we are continuing our "pick a bottle to taste." We are calling it -"It's your choice." The customer gets to decide which bottle to taste. Please, take us up on this one!
Come on by and support your local wine merchant!
