Fall has arrived! Football is here, Brett Favre is back again and the crispness in the air has set in. It's red wine season now, come on in and try our line-up of Fall reds and whites. They are a winning combination and will score for you every time! We will begin the tasting this afternoon with a white wine from the Saint Romaine district of Burgundy.
2006 Domaine Buisson, Saint-Romain Blanc, Sous La Velle, Chardonnay $22.99 a bottle, $234.50 a case, or $19.54 as part of a mixed case.
Saint Romain Blanc "Sous la Velle" 2006: rich and youthfully opulent
with notes of hay, grass and earthier elements, the wine initially seems
lower in acidity due to the far greater concentration. Again, green
chlorophyll notes combine with a dense more clay-like minerality. Tons
of material, here were hints of acacia honey on the
palate. A true winner. For our second wine we will tasting an Argentinian Gem!
2008 Bodegas Caro Amancaya, Mendoza, Argentina, Malbec-Cab blend. $21.99 a bottle, $224.30 a case or $18.69 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Deep
purple color. Fruit driven wine with appealing red & black cherries
flavors, black plums, hint of mint & cedar. On the palate it has a
nice tannic texture that is full & round. Notes of vanilla &
tobacco coming from French oak. Drink Now. Its de-lich! Next in the line-up is a Grenache powerhouse from the Rhone.
2007 Domaine a Manarine Les Terres Saintes, Cotes du Rhone, Grenache $19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case or $16.99 as part of a mixed case
Les Terres Saintes is made from a selection of lower yielding old vines
(average 45 years old). Gilles, the winemaker and owner of the vineyard destems the entire harvest and uses
cement tanks for fermentation." (structured as a "vin
de garde") The wine benefits from a long "cuvaison" of 30 days. During the
"elevage" both wines go through "delestage" and "remontage" (a technique
whereby the tank is completely emptied and the wine pumped back into it
on top of the layer of skins) to extract color and flavor. In addition,
20% of the "Terres Saintes" is aged for 8 months in "demi-muids" or
large barrels. Wait until you taste this wine!
