Where did the summer go? The season has begun to wind down, with everyone starting to get back into their "normal routines."  People have been coming into the shoppe and talking about their kids starting Kindergarten or going off to college, and the hot days are starting to turn into cool nights and mornings.  There is still time left to enjoy the couple of precious weeks before the craziness of the "normal routine" sets in! Come on by and pick up some new wines to enjoy on the deck or by the pool for the few lazy evenings still to come.

We will be tasting a Malbec Reserva made with vines that age over 50 years, a Sancerre that's lean and gripping, and a white from the Languedoc that is elegant yet zingy, goes well with or without food and is very easy drinking!

MOREOVER, THE BREADS FROM BALTHAZAR ARE HERE, FRESH AND DELIVERED HOT!

For Saturday, we are trying something new.
We are calling it -"It's your choice".
The customer gets to decide which bottle to taste. Please, take us up on this one!

FRIDAY'S TASTING:

2007 Chateau La Rouque Coteaux  du Languedoc Blanc White blend
$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Château la Roque is located in the region of Pic St. Loup in the village of Fontanes. The Château dates to the 8th century when Benedictine monks wrote of its importance as a crossroads for travelers. The Roque brothers gained ownership of the castle in 1259, and planted vines on the surrounding slopes. Today, the domaine is owned by Jack Boutin, who employs the philosophy that wine should be made as naturally as possible. He uses no chemical fertilizers and no insecticides or pesticides.  The blend is 25% Grenache Blanc, 30% Vermentino, 30% Marsanne and 15% Rousanne. It's fermented in stainless steel tanks and is completely unoaked. The wine is refreshing, lively, elegant, and zingy with floral and apricot aromas and flavors. This juice is not aggressive, lovely on its own or delicious with grilled seafood and a host of other dishes too!

2009 Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre, Sauvignon Blanc
$28.99 a bottle, $297.50 a case, or $24.64 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Lemon, pineapple, gooseberry, and white pepper rise from the glass of Hippolyte Reverdy's 2009 Sancerre. In the mouth, this relatively light, brashly citric Sauvignon also reveals notes of black currant and sage along with salt and chalk. There is an impressive amount of sheer energy on display here and a mouth-watering and ultimately mouth-scouring intensity. But this will definitely hold most appeal for those who relish their Sancerre on the lean side, and its gripping finish harbors considerable citrus zest and citrus pip bitterness. It will be worth following for at least the next 18-24 months.

2007 Punto Final Reserva, Mendoza, Malbec

$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

The 2007 Punto Final Reserva contains 99% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc aged for 10 months in French oak. The wine was sourced from vineyards over 50 years of age but with lower yields. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up a fragrant bouquet of cedar, scorched earth, lavender, and black cherry. Layered, dense, and concentrated, it has tons of savory black fruit, spice notes, and excellent balance. This lengthy effort can be enjoyed now but will evolve in the bottle for 2-3 years.
