It's late in the afternoon now so here we go. We are tasting a gorgeous white, it's an Albarino from Spain. Secondly, we're tasting a light and easy drinking Riesling that is on the top 100 wines from Wine Spectator every year; and, an old style Rioja that is dynamite. Come on in and enjoy!

FRIDAY'S TASTING:
2009 Lagar de Cervera Rias Biaxas Albariño
$24.99 a bottle, $254.90 a case, or $21.24 a
bottle as part of a mixed case.
Light gold. Pungent, complex bouquet of pear, apple, minerals, succulent herbs and smoke. Firm and precise, showing excellent cut and thrust to its bright mineral and orchard fruit flavors. Clinging and concentrated on the spicy, long finish. This is wonderfully focused and poised.
2009 Saint Urbans-Hof Riesling

St. Urbans-Hof winery is located in the vilage of Leiwen in the heart of Germany's renowned Mosel Valley. The vineyards of the estate are situated on many of the finest slopes of the Mosel and Saar Rivers and are planted exclusively to Riesling. A light and minerally Riesling, racy and spritzy with flower and smoky
flavours coming from the slate soil. It has an almost electrifying
acidity, which asks for the next sip. This Kabinett is very delicate and
appealing to drink.
2005 Finca Allende Red Rioja

The 2005 Allende is 100% Tempranillo barrel-fermented and aged for 14 months in mostly new French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up an enticing bouquet of pain grille, crushed stone, spice box, scorched earth and blackberry. Ripe, layered, and complex, it has gobs of spicy fruit, several years of aging potential, and a lengthy finish. 92 POINTS ROBERT PARKER
