This heat has made for a long week! The grass is looking dry and thirsty, and so are most of us! This weekend we decided to go with easy drinking wines. For Friday, the white is a grape that most people have not yet tried. It's light, delicious, and is tons of fun. It's a Gruner as we call it in the wine world, and this bottle is a liter size. The red is juicy and tasty. It's Bibi Graetz! As a special treat, we are opening a bottle of Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir. It's a lip smackin' delicious bottle from the famed 2007 vintage.

2009 Berger Gruner Veltliner, Austria

This light, refreshing white makes an
excellent introduction to Gruner Veltliner. An excellent value that's an easy
pairing for a wide array of foods, Berger Gruner Veltliner has a pleasant
acidity, a delicious palate of citrus and stone fruits, and a hint of
minerality.

This medium-bodied, juicy red offers
plenty of dark red fruit in an accessible style underpinned with a bright
accent of acidity. The Casamatta Rosso would make a great house red.
Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011.
2007 Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir, Carneros

Brilliant, translucent ruby color gleams
from the glass while bright red fruit and spice aromas greet. Classic flavors
of red raspberries, cranberries, and orange peel conspire with sensual, earthy
undercurrents that define cool climate Pinot Noir. The wine balances silky
texture against a bright edge that keeps you returning to the glass for more.

For Saturday come out and try:
Joel Gott's latest release of his Sauvignon Blanc, it's a brilliant, vibrant
Sauvignon Blanc due to the cool growing season which produced intensely
aromatic sauv blancs with great varietal expression. The finish is bright
and crisp. There are hints of herbal, melon, and citrus aromas, followed by
tropical fruit, grapefruit and mineral flavors. $14.99
We will also be tasting the 2009 Schild Estate GMS
Through the careful selection of the best fruit, this blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Shiraz, was harvested from
vineyards with an average age of 70 years. This wine shows a nose of lifted
ripe cherries and spices. On the palate the flavors explode with the wine
showing dominant old bush vine Grenache characters, enhanced by the addition of
rich, plummy Mourvedre and peppery Shiraz, without the use of oak. This is a
wine to be enjoyed now or will reward with cellaring. $17.99
