 Greetings!
When my  daughter saw the heading  for this email blast, she insisted  I was crazy. However, I am constantly thinking  about new and interesting  wines to bring into the shop.
We have a terrific, "well thought-out" line-up for this week's tasting!
FRIDAY'S TASTING:

2007 Savary Chablis Primier Cru, Fourchaume, Chardonnay
$32.99 a bottle, $336.50 a case, or $28.05 a bottle as part of a mixed case

A fantastic Chablis.... this is a Premiere Cru at a great price.  The wine is elegant and will continue to improve for the next several years.  Richly aromatic with citrus, stone fruits, and lemon blossom.   Flavors on the palate mirror the nose.  Complex, with good concentration. Very limited.... a terrific summer white!

2008 Chad, Santa Lucia Highlands, Pinot Noir
$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case, or $17.00 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Drawn from the Sarmento Vineyard, set square in the center of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation, this delicious, bright red fruit Pinot Noir has excellent vibrancy, speaking to its high elevation origins. Rigorous farming and Sarmento's rocky soils provided for small yields in 2008, accounting for the beautiful red fruit flavors. Drink now-2012.  This is the everyday Pinot worth twice it's price, you've been looking for, hands down!

2009 Bodegas Langa Rose´, Calatayud, Spain
Cabernet Sauvignon/
Syrah
$12.99 a bottle, $132.50 a case or $11.04 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

This is a rich, savoury, and spicy wine that is blended with the softer more luscious charms of berry laden Syrah and Cabernet to make a brilliantly characterful wine. Supple, silky and succulent. This is a fun Rose´ to enjoy with your friends. It is too easy to drink!

For Saturday, we will be tasting:

2008 Cantina Del Taburno, Benevetano, Italy Greco
$17.99 a bottle, $183.50 for a case, or $15.29 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Terre  Deor Prosecco Raboso, Italy

$12.99 a bottle, $132.50 for a case, or $11.05 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

JUNE WINES OF THE MONTH

2009 Tour du Bon, Bandol, Rose´, Provence France
$27.99 a bottle, $254.90 a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Tour du Bon is a traditional estate based in one of Provence's most prestigious appellations, Bandol. The area is renowned for the quality of its pale, intensely flavored rose wines. Tour du Bon's soft, ochre-tinged robe rose is highly evocative of the reassuring heat of the Provençal countryside. The wine is very subtle and exudes perfumes that are at once invigorating and sweet. Soft and spicy on the palate, this rose is a good match for a wide range of foods, from seafood to North African-style dishes, the more exotic the better. (35% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 30% Cinsault, 10% Clairette). Serve at 55°F

2008 Jean Manciat, Charnay-les-Macon, Burgundy, France, Chardonnay
$21.99 a bottle, $224.30 a case, or $18.70 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Jean Manciat was one of the very first wines in Joe Dressner and Denyse Louis' portfolio and this excellent producer stands head and shoulders above the ocean of co-op wines in the Macon area. Manciat has only 5.5 hectares largely planted to old vines (50+ years) and the vines are hand harvested. The yields are very low for the appellation, less than 50hl/ha a fraction on average. Grass is planted in between the rows of vines in order to maintain a healthy micro-climate in his vineyards. The Macon-Charnay is produced in stainless steel vats, to express the fruity, floral aromas and flinty minerality that characterize the best Chardonnay in the region. The wine's rich in texture is balanced by a nice core of acidity, and white fruits dominate the palate.

2009  O'Reilly's Pinot Noir, Oregon, Pinot Noir
$24.99 a bottle, $254.90 for a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case

"Our fruit for the 2009 O'Reilly's Pinot Noir was sourced from several small vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley. The warmth of the '09 growing season in this region yielded beautifully ripe fruit with bright acidity and rich flavors. This Pinot Noir is well balanced with vibrant red fruit aromatics of cherry, blueberry and rose. A rich jammy fruit mid palate finishes with pie crust, cola and a hint of cinnamon spice.
Enjoy this excellent example of Oregon Pinot Noir with your favorite grilled salmon recipie, chanterelle mushroom risotto, or just by itself with a good friend. "

We'll open the wines for Friday's tasting around 4:00, and Saturday around noon. We look forward to seeing you.
