 Greetings!
Yes, the children are finishing up with all their activities.
Now it's time to sit and relax with a nice bottle of wine, delicious food, and don't forget the sumptuous bread!
FRIDAY'S TASTING:

2007 Buondonno Rosato, Chianti Classico, Sangiovese
$19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

This medium-bodied, dry Rosé has a structure more like a young red, with layer upon layer of flavor revealed with each successive sip.  Lush, fresh, and fragrant, there's a hint of violets in the nose.  Intense and rich, it has good acidity and just a touch of minerality.  On the palette, there is strawberry, rose petal, and a touch of licorice spiciness. The finish is clean, soft and dry, making it easy to drink, even during a hot, Tuscan summer.  Its unique heritage and wonderful taste make this a great conversation wine.

2009 Breggo, Anderson Valley, Pinot Gris
$27.99 a bottle, $285.50 a case, or $23.79 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Our Anderson Valley Pinot Gris, a blend of fruit from opposite ends of the Valley, is packed with wonderful aromas of nectarine, key lime pie, and honeydew melon. Hints of honey, mandarin orange, and lime blossom add depth to the nose. The mouth explodes with rich flavors of honey, white peach, marmalade, and hints of white pepper. The rich texture of the wine is lifted by its bright acidity that leaves a long intense finish.

2006 Palazzo, Napa Valley Red Wine,  A blend of Merlot, Cab Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon
$58.99 a bottle, $601.70 a case or $50.14 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Palazzo's deep ruby/purple-tinged, full-bodied 2006 Proprietary Red Wine (68% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon) reveals a sumptuous perfume of white chocolate, fruitcake, black cherries, black currants, and subtle toasty oak. Displaying a luscious texture, a broad, savory mid-palate, and gorgeous length, it should drink nicely for 10-15+ years. This serious, small, artisinal operation is owned by Scott Palazzo, who, along with his winemaker, Peter Franus, is turning out some complex, French-inspired offerings.

JUNE WINES OF THE MONTH

2009 Tour du Bon, Bandol, Rose´, Provence France
$27.99 a bottle, $254.90 a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Tour du Bon is a traditional estate based in one of Provence's most prestigious appellations, Bandol. The area is renowned for the quality of its pale, intensely flavored rose wines. Tour du Bon's soft, ochre-tinged robe rose is highly evocative of the reassuring heat of the Provençal countryside. The wine is very subtle and exudes perfumes that are at once invigorating and sweet. Soft and spicy on the palate, this rose is a good match for a wide range of foods, from seafood to North African-style dishes, the more exotic the better. (35% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 30% Cinsault, 10% Clairette). Serve at 55°F

2008 Jean Manciat, Charnay-les-Macon, Burgundy, France, Chardonnay
$21.99 a bottle, $224.30 a case, or $18.70 a bottle as part of a mixed case.

Jean Manciat was one of the very first wines in Joe Dressner and Denyse Louis' portfolio and this excellent producer stands head and shoulders above the ocean of co-op wines in the Macon area. Manciat has only 5.5 hectares largely planted to old vines (50+ years) and the vines are hand harvested. The yields are very low for the appellation, less than 50hl/ha a fraction on average. Grass is planted in between the rows of vines in order to maintain a healthy micro-climate in his vineyards. The Macon-Charnay is produced in stainless steel vats, to express the fruity, floral aromas and flinty minerality that characterize the best Chardonnay in the region. The wine's rich in texture is balanced by a nice core of acidity, and white fruits dominate the palate.

2009  O'Reilly's Pinot Noir, Oregon, Pinot Noir
$24.99 a bottle, $254.90 for a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case

"Our fruit for the 2009 O'Reilly's Pinot Noir was sourced from several small vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley. The warmth of the '09 growing season in this region yielded beautifully ripe fruit with bright acidity and rich flavors. This Pinot Noir is well balanced with vibrant red fruit aromatics of cherry, blueberry and rose. A rich jammy fruit mid palate finishes with pie crust, cola and a hint of cinnamon spice.
Enjoy this excellent example of Oregon Pinot Noir with your favorite grilled salmon recipie, chanterelle mushroom risotto, or just by itself with a good friend. "

We'll open the wines for Friday's tasting around 4:00, and Saturday around noon. We look forward to seeing you.
