February Wines of the Month:
|
Domaine Ostertag Sylvaner Vielles Vignes 2008 $27.99 a bottle, $285.48 for a case, or $23.79 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Looking for something different to drink? Look no further, this wine is delicious! The Domaine Ostertag Sylvaner Vielles Vignes is a fuller bodied white wine with spice, orange blossom and floral aromas. The palate is loaded with ginger spice and citrus. The finish is crisp with a touch of smokiness. Trust us, you'll want to try this wine!
|
Domaine Savary Chablis Premiere Cru Fourchaumes 2007 $32.99 a bottle, $336.48 for a case, or $28.04 a bottle as part of a mixed case
A fantastic Chablis.... this is a Premier Cru at a great price. The wine is elegant and will continue to improve over the next several years. Richly aromatic with citrus, stone fruits, and lemon blossom. Flavors on the palate mirror the nose. Complex, with good concentration, and very limited!
|
Gesellman Pinot Noir 2004 $29.99 a bottle, $305.88 for a case, or $25.49 a bottle as part of a mixed case
When we tasted this wine we thought... ok a Pinot Noir from Austria... let's see... and then we took the first sip and looked at each other and exclaimed, "This is great!" Filled with ripe red cherry and berry flavors, and depth of fruit which is balanced with spice and a touch of bramble. It is interesting, complex and has good length. A definite winner... at a great price.
|
Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 $29.99 a bottle, $305.88 for a case, or $25.49 a bottle as part of a mixed case
A bold aromatic expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet is filled with spices of bay, clove and anise amidst a core of red cherries, dried cranberries and ripe red plums. With each sip we're reminded of the terroir at Obsidian Ridge. This is a rich and densely structured wine and it maintains appropriate acidity that carries forth the flavors of dark cherries finishing with espresso beans coated in dark chocolate. This is undeniably mountain Cabernet with ample tannin to secure its longevity for ten or even fifteen years.

Friday's Tasting:
Domaine Ostertag Sylvaner Vielles Vignes 2008 $27.99 a bottle, $285.48 for a case, or $23.79 a bottle as part of a mixed case
The Domaine Ostertag Sylvaner Vielles Vignes is a fuller
bodied white wine with spice, orange blossom and floral aromas. The
palate is loaded with ginger spice and citrus. The finish is crisp
with a touch of smokiness. Trust us, you'll want to try this wine!
Domaine Savary Chablis Premiere Cru Fourchaumes 2007 $32.99 a bottle, $336.48 a case, or $28.04 a bottle in a mixed case.
A fantastic Chablis.... this is a Premier Cru
at a great price. The wine is elegant and will continue to improve
over the next several years. Richly aromatic with citrus, stone
fruits, and lemon blossom. Flavors on the palate mirror the nose.
Complex, with good concentration, and very limited!
 Chateau Patache d'Aux 2005 $24.99 a bottle, $254.90 a case, or $21.25 in a mixed case.
Beautiful ruby color, deep and brilliant. Very expressive nose with blackberry aromas. The mouth is well structured with ripe tannins - round and velvet. The body is full and rich. 60% Cab, 30% Merlot, 7% Cab Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

Domaine Le Couroulu Vacqueyras 2007 $19.99 a bottle, $203.90 a case, or $16.99 in a mixed case.
The classique is just that - roasted Provencal herbs, spice box, licorice, and lavender soar from
the glass of this full-bodied, richly fruity wine, which has superb
depth, density, and a 30+ second finish. This is an impressively
endowed, round, voluptuous style of Vacqueyras, but don't make the
mistake of drinking it all in its exuberant youthfulness, as it will
keep for 6-7 years. It is a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 15%
Mourvedre aged in foudres.
