Greetings!
We can't believe we are in the second half of August already. This summer is flying. Our college kids are starting to head back to school already. Good luck to the new empty nesters. Pre-season football is on television and Octoberfest beers are starting to appear on our shelves. Everyone looks so tan when they step into our store, which is nice and cool, maintained at a temperature perfect for wine and cooling off!
Before summer completely slips away, you just have to try some of our summer wines! Perfect for these lazy days of summer that we have to enjoy before they're gone! Before anymore time passes, let's get to the wines for Friday's tasting. These are detailed below. We look forward to seeing you over the weekend and helping you choose a few bottles or even a case to try!

Wines for Friday's Tasting:
|
Chateau Graville-Lacoste Graves 2008 $19.99 a bottle, $203.88 for a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case Chateau Graville-Lacoste is a 20 acre property located in the Graves district of Bordeaux. Graves is the area within Bordeaux known to produce the best dry white Bordeaux. Owned by Herve DuBourdieu, he is the sixth generation in his family to grow vines in Bordeaux. The strength of his experience coupled with the terroir of Graves, result in a delicious, dry, white Bordeaux! Made from Semillon, Sauvillon Blanc, and a touch of Muscadelle the wine is crisp and refreshing, with touches of honey and melon. Perfect for the late days of summer!

Domaine Thenard Givry Blanc 2007 $24.99 a bottle, $254.88 for a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case
The estate of Domaine Thenard dates back to the 1700's and only recently started to export to the US. We have enjoyed several of their wines over the last year and we are very excited about the 2007 Givry Blanc. Typical of the 2007 vintage, the Thenard Givry Blanc is a Chardonnay which is very aromatic and lively on the palate. It is medium-bodied, on the nose it is filled with white flowers, and is packed with minerality on the palate. Just perfect for seafood dishes or as an aperitif. Come in and try this white Burgundy and see what this classic 2007 vintage has to offer!
|
Victory Vineyards Parcel 31 Zinfandel 2007 $19.99 a bottle, $203.88 for a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Looking for a delicious, well-balanced Zinfandel for your barbecue meals this weekend? We have just the one! From an organically farmed vineyard, this unique Oakville Zinfandel has developed a powerful structure that is sweet on the front palate and spicy on the back. Black currants, wild huckleberries, and a melting essence of dark chocolate emerge from this full-bodied wine that finishes with a note of vanilla and cracked pepper. This wine makes a great companion to almost any meal and is out of this world with barbecue!

This wine was served to the world leaders during the G8 Summit! Barone di Valporte grows the Passerina grapes on the

with raw seafood or as an aperitif. The wine has a low alcohol
content, just 11.5%! It is delicious and a must try this August!

Velenosi Il Brecciarolo $19.99 a bottle, $203.88 for a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Il Brecciarolo [Eel breTCH
ee R o low] refers to the broken stones typical of the soils in the
area of Tuscany where the grapes for this wine are grown. The
heartiness of the Montepulciano grape dominates while the Sangiovese
lifts the aromatics and brightens the wine. It has a lovely soft
palate, with tannins giving the wine structure, but are so soft and
refined they almost feel creamy. The flavors and tannins are perfectly
balanced with the great acidity that follows through the finish. A
long standing favorite!
