Greetings!
I can't believe it is Easter already. This year is flying by! To help everyone celebrate this weekend we have selected a few favorites that we know will perfectly compliment your dinners and family gatherings. If you want to try a few wines in advance, stop in tonight, Friday, or Saturday. We will have some open each day for you to try! And as a special note, we will be open between 11:00 and 2:00 on Sunday for any last minute items you might need.
We have a few kosher wines, too. A delicious Chardonnay and Bordeaux Blend from Israel that were delicious with dinner last night. You really should try them - they are really beautiful, and it beats Manischewitz hands down!
And don't forget the sale that started last week... All wines retail priced between $40.00 - 74.99 are discounted 15% and all wines with retail prices $75 and higher are discounted 20% through the end of April.
Stop in and help us celebrate! In addition to the sale, we continue to feature our 20% off close-out bin. Wines that we have 1 bottle left are added to the bin to make room for new and interesting wines.

Featured Wines of the Month - April
|
Errazuriz Wild Ferment Chardonnay 2007 $16.99 a bottle, $173.28 for a case, or $14.44 a bottle as part of a mixed case
We just opened a bottle of this wine a few days ago to taste, and thought WOW all of our Chardonnay lovers should try this one! It is called Wild Ferment because the yeasts used for fermentation occur naturally on the grapes and in the air. Today, many winemakers will add yeasts to control the fermentation, but the winemaker from Errazuriz thought the natural approach was best for this Chardonnay. We agree! It drinks like a $40 California Chard. The result, a wine of light yellow gold color, offering aromas of ripe stone fruits and mandarin orange with sweet notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and light toast. The palate is definitely creamy while still having refreshing acidity. Crisp and well-rounded, definitely one you have to try!

Chateau Turcaud Entre Deux Mers 2008 $13.99 a bottle, $142.62 for a case, or $11.89 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Yes, three times is a charm. This is the third vintage from this winery that we have decided to bring in because we think it is terrific and a value that cannot be beaten at this price! A traditional white Bordeaux blend consisting of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Semillon and 5% Muscadelle tempts you with aromas of lime, mango, and floral notes. These aromas follow thru on the palate making it perfect as an apperitif or an accompaniment to seafood, chicken and of course goat cheeses. At this price it makes sense to buy a case to enjoy throughout the Spring and Summer.

Antica Masseria Venditti Sannio DOC Rosso 2007 $19.99 a bottle, $203.88 for a case, or $16.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Antica Masseria Venditti can be found in the Sannio region of Campania around Vesuvius. Back in 1988, the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso introduced the word "organic" for the first time with its review of Venditti's wines. For over 20 years, Nicola Venditti has believed in tilling the soil and being certified organic. The vineyards have been in his family for over 400 years (thus the Antica Masseria part); and he feels deeply passionate for his terrritory of Sannio.
This Rosso highlights native grapes (50% Montepulciano 30% Olivella, and 20% Aglianico) and offers a certain complexity of the field blend itself: the whole is greater than the parts sort of thing. A beautiful deep purple in color; nose of mulberry, cured black olives and walnuts. The aromas are continued on the palate with chewy tannins. I can't wait to have this wine with some hard cheeses, grilled meats or as an alternative for your weekday meals. Try this blend and you'll see what we mean.

Fabre Montmayour Gran Reserva Malbec 2007 $24.99 a bottle, $254.88 for a case, or $21.24 a bottle as part of a mixed case
What do we keep bringing in that keeps going out the door just as quick? Delicious Malbecs from Argentina, of course! As we mentioned before, these wines are hot right now. We found another delicious one for you to enjoy! Robert Parker agreed, awarded the wine 92 points, and said, "Red color with shiny violet tones. Very complex and elegant bouquet. Plenty of wild red fruits like blackberries and cherries, liquorish and delicate hints of flowers. On the palate, the wine shows a remarkable balance with very elegant, delicate and silky tannins. This wine is velvet. Great combined with red meats, games, rich cheeses, and chocolate." Rich, I can't wait for you to try it!

Wines for Friday's Tasting:
Gerard Boulay Chavignol Sancerre 2007 $32.99 a bottle, $336.48 for a case, or $28.04 a bottle as part of a mixed case
Gérard Boulay is one of the very finest producers in all of Sancerre, and his various bottlings from his home base of Chavignol are amongst the deepest, most intensely flavored and racy Sancerres to be found in the appellation. This is one of the best Sauvignon Blancs to be found and perfect for the Spring!
Penner-Ash Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2006 $58.99 a bottle, $566.28 for a case, or $47.19 a bottle as part of a mixed case
A blockbuster wine from the Willamette Valley! Black cherry, cassis and black pepper aromas lead into a creamy, broad palate of fresh blackberry, red cherry and violets. A purity of both red and black fruits combined with round tannins provide a lingering finish of baking spice and vanilla. Just waiting for your ham or lamb entree this weekend! Lynn Penner Ash folks, need I say more?
Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2005 $69.99 a bottle, $671.88 for a case, or $55.99 a bottle as part of a mixed case Yum! 93 points from Parker, "The 2005, (yes 2005!) Chateauneuf du Pape offers pure raspberry fruit with superb intensity, a deep, full-bodied style, with deeper bluer and blacker fruits, but of course the telltale kirsch is present. Interesting notes of licorice, pepper, and incense are also present in this wine. It has fabulous intensity, but wonderful elegance, perfume, and overall equilibrium. This wine should drink beautifully for 15 or more years." Delicious with a roasted leg of lamb!
