Greetings!
Since March definitely arrived like a Lion, my money is on March going out like a Lamb. I figure since my picks for the Tournament were not on the money, I would have a better chance on this.
For Friday's tasting we have a few favorites picked out for you to enjoy. A couple have bottle age so they really show how patience and time can benefit a wine. Stop in, try them, and see what a few years can do!

Gilbert Picq Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2007

The Domaine of Gilbert Picq et Ses Fils is one of the lovely, small, elite producers that the experts are starting to notice. His vineyards dot the landscape of Chablis in Northern Burgundy. The Picq style of Chablis is very classic, with the inimitable expression of minerality that Chardonnay only picks up in these rolling hillside vineyards of the Yonne Valley. This old vine Chablis couples the minerality with citrus, racy acidity and fine depth that comes from low yields, meticulous winemaking and fine parcels of vines. This wine is drinking well right now and you can put a few down for the next few years too! This wine is stunning, and honestly I'm hooked.

Chateau du Basque Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2001

A classic Bordeaux blend from Saint Emilion on the right bank of Bordeaux, it consists of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. What we love is that it has terrific bottle age (from the 2001 vintage). The flavors have melded and it is absolutely fantastic with food. It is still very fresh, rich and concentrated with plum and black currants and just enough tannins to provide structure. This is one of those wines that are out there, but you have to search for it. We found it! At $19.99 you're gonna' love it!

Le Macchiole Bolgheri Rosso 2002

From Tuscany, a delicious Sangiovese blended with touches of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah. This one also has some bottle age and is ready for you to enjoy now! When you taste the wine you will see what a little patience with ageing will provide you! It is a brilliant ruby color and exhibits aromas of red fruits, blueberries, blackberries, and spices. Medium-bodied, it possesses well integrated tannins, and a balanced, refreshing acidity. P.S. it's one of Todd E's favs. He picked it right, it's a beauty!
