Greetings!

This month we celebrate so many blessings.  
 
My brother Jon, the farmer, finished harvesting in record time with a great yield on his crops!

The summer of 2010 was a busy one and I want to personally thank all of you for your continued support and friendship. (ok, I forgot to send a newsletter the last 2 months... oops.)

First, I am happy to announce that we are officially seven years old. Seven years!! wow....that's a lot of salads tossed. Second, we were listed in the Indianapolis Monthly as one of Indy's Top 22 Restaurants. I am so proud of all my employees for working hard and taking such great care of our guests through our great food and personal service thanks Indy Monthly!!~~, oh yea the Monthly is coming this Sunday October 17th, to take pictures for their December issue...... Third, last month I was honored by the Westfield Chamber of Commerce as the Citizen of the Year. I am truly humbled and honored by this wonderful acknowledgment. I hope that I can live up to this amazing recognition. And finally Fourth, we are now the exclusive caterer at the Riviera Club in Indianapolis!!!
 
In my acceptance speech for Citizen of the Year at the Lantern Awards held a few weeks back I failed to mention the outstanding support that the Westfield Chamber has always given me and my business. Julie and Kathy are like having your very own personal marketing department and they do it for everyone... from my first call when I was living in Washington to last week when I needed help... they have always been there for me and I cannot thank them enough. There are hundreds of other people to thank for our longevity here in this great city...and for the next few months I want to acknowledge them.... Sorry. Please indulge me... you are all so special to me... I vividly remember my first chamber lunch... I sat with Dr. Mark Keen (superintendent of schools) Cindy Keever, Todd Lambert and a few other administrators from Westfield schools.. I thought I had hit the jackpot because I wanted to share my information about my manners classes. They were all so kind and supportive and have been for the last seven years... Thank you Westfield Schools for your amazing support and friendship.
 
My next lunch I was privileged to meet both John Kerr with Edward Jones and David Mueller (pronounced Miller ) owner of Insects Limited. Both, have been role models, friends and clients... (mostly the friend part). The thing they both have in common is that they are both people of great strength. We became acquainted over the topic of manners...Dave and I while standing in the buffet line and John and I the same. I have catered events for both of their familes and just last month was fortunate enough to cater Dave and Mary Beths sons rehearsal dinner... to me, being there for these events is what it is all about, oh yea I catered Johns wedding too!...
 
We are plotting and planning for a great fall season. Toby, our Chef has been creating some fabulous entrees. Butternut Squash Soup and other great root vegetables are now on the menu. So check out our Facebook and Twitter for daily specials...

Culinary Tip of the Month:
Have you ever made homemade salsa and 2 days after you have made it you open the container and it looks like aspic ? (a jelly like substance) Well that has been happening to us recently so I did some research. We may have been using too much garlic powder, we may have been over mixing, or not adding enough liquid. When this happens to your salsa, here are a few tricks, add more tomato sauce, add a bit of lime juice, or add a bit of juice from a can of tomatoes.

Our Calendar for 2011
is going to be packed on the second Tuesday of every month... classes like Healthy eating classes, entertaining secrets, Wine classes, pairing food and wine, etiquette essentials, tips for family dining and more.... We want to kick off our series with a special class on Tuesday November 16th. From 6 to 8 pm Kelties will be offering Entertaining, Etiquette and Edibles..
