Happy Winter!

Greetings!

Kelties Restaurant and Catering
Here we are again... wishing and hoping that spring is just around the corner. But guess what.. Punxsutawney Phil says 6 more weeks of winter.. As much as we cannot wait for the heat and humidity (ha) take advantage of the sledding, snowmobiling and ice skating.  The rink in downtown Westfield is ready and waiting on you.  So enjoy what's left of our winter fun!!

Every year my February newsletter is always an emotional time for me.  As February 3rd would have been my Dads 74th birthday.  A quiet, laid back, hardworking farmer he always put his family first.  He had 3 brain tumors in his short 62 year life.  But being humble and quiet, you would never have known it. I strive to be more like him every day.  There are so many fond memories of my dad, but one that sticks in my mind is when I was 14 we got snow mobiles.... I was learning how to drive and be responsible and dad felt I was ready to be on my own... we were each driving our own and going pretty full speed when we both went flying over a bunker (we forgot was there), both fell off our vehicles and ended up laying in the snow laughing uncontrollably.  I haven't laughed like that in a while...

Have you picked up a copy of this months Indianapolis Monthly?  We are listed as one of the top 25 spots for breakfast  (well you know we do brunch on Sunday)  wow... that's cool  thanks Indy Monthly!

Etiquette Tip of the Month
How are those thank you cards coming? Remember the goal is 2 a month.   Lets talk table settings.  Many people have asked me... which fork do I use first?  The one on the outside.  Always start on the outside and work your way in.  Which plate is mine for  bread?  Your bread plate is always on your left.  And another rule about silverware, once you pick up the silverware to use it, it should never touch the table.  Never prop it half on your plate.  It always belongs in your plate or resting on the edge.

School Age Etiquette Class
Where do I put my napkin?  Why do I have two forks?  What should I talk about at the dinner table?  These are all great questions that lots of kids aren't completely sure of the answers!  Kelties offers manners and etiquette classes for several different school age groups.  We have gotten several requests for an open class with individual sign ups-so here it is...

Catering Tip

Spring is just around the corner and with spring usually brings lots of baptisms, showers, 1st communions, and graduations!  These are all wonderful celebrations that generally require a get together with friends and family which can put a bit of stress on the host.  Here are a few tips to make these events worry free!

Plan ahead- think about the timing-what time is the event and what should be served.

Make a list- review what you would like to serve and write it down.  Write down your guest list. Make a list for the grocery store.  I even jot down what dish for what food I will use and where I want to place it on the table.
Throw it out- make it easy on yourself with pretty disposable plates and utensils.

Keep it simple and enjoy- keep a focus on the real reason for the event- the food is a fabulous addition to an already joyous event.  If you spend some time planning before the big day, your event should be a huge success!

We would love to help you with your catering needs!  Please call Kathy Campbell, Catering Director at 867-3525 for more information on catering with Kelties!
Bless you all!
