Welcome to Fall!
Greetings!

Many new and exciting things are happening at the
restaurant. Did you catch us on the FOX
59 morning show last week? We were the
restaurant of the week, and if you act now you may still be able to get a $100
gift certificate for only $50.
It was my chance to shine, I had 30 second of air time to
talk about dining and silverware etiquette, now mind you when I was going
through my formal etiquette training in Washington DC the silverware class was
3 hours so I was ready I had my script
memorized. After the introduction and
one item on silverware I was thanked for coming and it was over. Whew, I was relieved, and sad at the same
time, hey I had a lot to say. See
etiquette tip this month for the "full" story... Who knows what will come of it!!
(nothing keltie...ha ha) It was fun and
memorable so check out www.fox59.com for this great
offer.
Have you been out in this incredible weather lately? Please do not miss the pumpkin patches,
hayrides, and apple orchards for a chance to steal some of this great season
before it is over. Tonda is starting to
make Pumpkin Cheesecake, and shes getting out the pecans... now that says fall to
me.

Etiquette Tip of the Month
Ok, where was I. Oh
yes, manners debut on FOX 59...silverware etiquette
You approach a beautifully orchestrated table with glasses,
silverware and china.... where do you
start, there are so many pieces. Here
are a few rules for keeping you proper on silverware during a meal.
- Always
work from the outside in.
- Once
you pick up silverware it should never touch the table again (no resting
half on the plate, half off the plate).
- While
eating, if you are resting to drink or talk the silverware should be in an
X position on your plate.... 4 and 7 o'clock.
- When
you are finished with your meal, the silverware should be at 4 o'clock with tines down.
- Never
take the food off your silverware with your teeth, use your lips.
- Always
face the blade of your knife towards you, especially when setting the table.
- Never
swing your silverware around when you are talking.
- Always
cut one bite at a time (unless you are under 4 of course and mom can do it
for you).
- Always
ladle away from yourself when you
are eating soup.
- Holding your silverware: Using your left hand lay
your fork on index finger and then turn over. Use knife in right hand
with index finger on top as well. Keep elbows and arms close to your
body.
I guess that would have taken a
bit more than 30 seconds.... Bon Appetit!

Baking Tip of the Month
Thanksgiving is time for Pumpkin Pie!
Here is a pumpkin pie tip
that is worth trying.
To
make a tasty topping for pumpkin pie, put marshmallows on the bottom of the pie
crust and top with the filling, as it bakes the marshmallows come to the top.
