Wine Tip of the Month

Navigating your way through a wine list, while out at a restaurant can be challenging at times. To start off, you should have an idea of how much you are willing to spend if you have chosen to go with wine for your meal. This will of course, depend on whether you are drinking red or white wine. Next, go for an area or appellation that you have enjoyed in the past; Carneros, Burgundy, Willamette, Oakville, etc... The wines from the same area will usually enjoy much of the same terroir. There are of course exceptions, but restaurants tend to stick to wines that are usually typical of the area. Now that you know your price range, red or white and your appellation of choice, ask your server for their recommendations. Your server may have a wine that is not listed or a "gem" on the list that you may not have seen. They should also be able to tell you more about the wines that you are inquiring about and help you to make the best decision. These are all tips that will make you a confident consumer about your purchase and make your meals much more memorable.

Monthly Baking Tip!
When baking with berries always dust with powdered sugar or flour. This easy step will prevent the bleeding of the berries in your batter.

For a moist muffin replace the liquid ingredient (water, milk etc.) with pudding or custard.
