News & Notes

Dear Faithful People
of Saint Peter's Church:

September 30 is the 18th Sunday after Pentecost, an "ordinary time" Sunday, but we will celebrate the Day of Saint Michael and All Angels and include rites of healing in all our liturgies - 8:45 and 11:00 masses in the morning, 1:30 misa and 5:00 Jazz Vespers in the afternoon.

Our 10:00 a.m. Forum in the Living Room will be led by Lee Malecki and Emily Bindig and will be on Alzheimer's disease.

Brunch will once again be provided by members of our misa community and the people of Sion Lutheran Church.  This Sunday in the Sanctuary at 1:30, the people of Sion will begin worshiping at Saint Peter's Church for a trial period of one month as the people of Saint Peter's, Sion and the Synod Council of the Metropolitan New York Synod enter a process to discern whether Sion should move to this Intersection and Saint Peter's should integrate our misa communities.  Our congregation will vote on this matter at our October 28 Congregational meeting.

The Parish Council has re-nominated Arthur Clark to a 4-year term on our Trust Committee, which Arthur currently chairs.  Election to the Trust Committee also occurs at our October 28 Congregational meeting.

In accordance with our constitution, official notice of the October 28 annual congregational meeting, including the agenda and other reports, will be published on October 11, 2012.

There is Confirmation Instruction this Saturday from 10:00 am until 3:00 p.m.

Reminder:  To provide for kitchen preparations for ALL NITE SOUL  next Sunday, October 7, pizza will be served for Brunch that day.

This year's series  "Formation and Re-Formation:  The Holy Spirit and the People of God," is a study of biblical texts and historic Christian theological writing on the work of the Holy Spirit in creating and reforming faithful communities and some informed speculation about the possible shape and structure of Christian communities in the next fifty years.

Confirmation Instruction begins on Saturday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Every year the people of Saint Peter's provide desserts to sell at ALL NITE SOUL.  This not only provides a nice, homey touch, but also reduces our expenses.  If you can, please bring your homemade or store-bought desserts to the kitchen on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning (October 6 or 7).

Thanks!
