Red Beans & Rice
Welcome to the 2nd Edition of Red Beans & Rice, a weekly e-mail of interesting articles, funding resources, professional development opportunities and other areas that Cuidiu has come across the previous week related to the nonprofit and philanthropic sector.  Each day we receive hundreds of e-mails, RSS feeds and blog postings and this is our attempt to synthesize all of this into the most useful information for you. We look forward to sharing this information with those who we know closely and those whom we have shared only a relationship through e-mail.

Please let us know what information you find most useful and please forward this information to your colleagues, board members and friends.  The reason for the name Red Beans & Rice originates from Louie Armstrong and how he signed his letters.  According to some he meant it as a kind gesture to grow stronger.

We are excited about the great start of this e-mail newsletter and have received many requests to be added.  We are hoping this information allows you and your worthwhile missions to also grow stronger.

Grant Opportunity of the Week:
Ronald McDonald House Charities Global Grants
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Global Grants support nonprofit organizations and NGOs with national or international scope whose programs meet the needs of children. Organizations seeking funding should have a specific program that directly improves the health and well-being of children under 21 years of age, addresses a significant funding gap or critical opportunity, has long-term impact in terms of replication or reach, produces measurable results, and is sustainable without relying on RMHC funding. Past grants have supported nonprofit organizations that provide health care for children, work to prevent childhood blindness, offer nutrition education, etc. The remaining letter of inquiry deadline for 2009 is September 4. Visit the RMHC website to access the letter of inquiry guidelines.
