International Women's Day Issue

Share your story with the global

diary of women's co-operation

Marsha Long & Vicential Amoako mentoring at Bayview Credit Union, Sussex, New Brunswick

Co-operatives are opening doors to engage women's full potential. How? By creating opportunities for women to access training, education and information, to save and borrow, to earn dividends, to vote, to make decisions, to run for leadership positions, and to access affordable products and services  - but most importantly, to drive their own development.

How have co-operatives changed your life? Make a global statement this International Women's Day by sharing your story - big or small - with the world. Show how co-operatives are working for women globally by sharing what's happening in your corner of the planet.

The International Co-operative Alliance is working with the Co-operative News to create a diary of women's co-operation around the world. It's collecting personal reflections from women about how co-operatives have made a difference or changed lives. While today is the perfect day to share your story, there is no deadline for participating in the project! You can submit your diary entry at any time here

HELP BUILD A BETTER WORLD

The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) is celebrating the UN-declared International Year of Co-operatives in 2012 by launching the Build a Better World Campaign to raise $12 million over four years. The increased investment will help CDF expand its reach and have a bigger impact in the communities it touches.

For 65 years, CDF has been working to help people in the developing world work, own, save and build the foundation for a secure life. On this international day for women CDF celebrates the work it has done and is doing to narrow the gender gap through international co-operative development. Through its partnership with the Canadian Co-operative Association, CDF provides women with training, access to credit, and the ability to raise their families out of poverty and into prosperity.
