Thanks to the generosity of JustHope Partners and US solidarity groups, Chacraseca's water project is getting some much needed TLC!
As you can see, the three cisterns that were hand-built by the community in 2004 and serve as the heart of the community's potable water project, have out-lived their functional life and are breaking and crumbling badly. Without these cisterns, three-quarters of the community would be without water--about 5000 people!
So partners from Oklahoma, Florida, North Carolina, New York, and Colorado joined together to fund three replacement cisterns ($6,000). We are still $1000 short of our goal, but trusting that other partners will join the effort, we started construction on the new cisterns last week!
Construction is expected to take four weeks... Let's all hope the old ones hold out!
Please consider being a part of this project and ensuring these people have clean water for their homes and families.
