40 Women are waiting for their opportunity...
Esperando- Waiting and Hoping
JustHope's micro-credit waiting list has increased to 40 women. All but ONE of these women want to raise pigs.
Some of the waiting women are participating in a 2 year program with the University of Leon, which is studying how to increase the profitability of pig farming through ensuring better food and care.
Carolina Martinez finds hope...
A single mother from the Pedro Arauz Palacio neighborhood, Carolina, is raising five children on her own. She has endured very difficult times without the support of the father of her children who abandoned her.
After many years working as domestic help, she asked to be part of the group that found a solution to the problems.
She received a loan to provide a safe place in which to raise her piglets. She is making her loan payments on time, while increasing her family's security.
The average loan for pig farming is $250.
As March 8th is International Women's Day, we would like to invite you to donate $25 to the micro-credit project in honor of a woman you know and respect. We will be happy to send a notice of honor to the powerful women in your life.
