SANTA EMILIA
has CLEAN WATER!
|

| | Celebrating Clean Water |
After three years of hard work (and 10 years of dreaming) the community of Santa Emilia has clean water!
Thanks to the faithful commitment of JustHope Partners in Cheney and Partridge, Kansas, the generosity of Wine to Water donors, and the cooperation of the Mayor of Matagalpa, the 350 families who live in Santa Emilia now have access to clean, fresh drinking water!

The project not only took thousands of donated dollars, but also required thousands of hours of volunteer labor and a ton of patience and perseverance from the residents of Santa Emilia - meeting, planning, advocating, digging ditches, laying pipe, building cisterns, inserting valves, and overcoming legal hurdles.

But through it all, they never gave up hope that their dream was possible! And today they are celebrating a dream come true!
We are pleased to report that because of the cooperation of the Mayor of Matagalpa, the project came in under budget! The remaining funds orginially designated for this project will be used for scholarships, women's projects, and other needs in Santa Emilia. If you were a donor to the Santa Emilia water project and would like your donation designated to a specific project, pleasecontact Leslie at leslie@justhope.org.

Another Urgent Need...
In Chacraseca we are raising funds to help farmers whose fall crops were rained out and don't have the funds to replant this spring. $100 will provide seed for 1 manzana of land (about 1.7 acres); $75 will provide fertilizer; $50 will rent the community tractor for a day; $25 will provide seed corn for a garden; $10 will rent a tractor blade for a day.
