IRS Depreciation Bonus Changing Next Year!

What does your plant want for the Holidays this year? While the year is winding down, this may still be a good time to make that last minute equipment purchase you have been holding off on.  Thanks to the 100% "bonus" depreciation write offs created by Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010.  Many feel this "depreciation bonus" will be greatly reduced or be gone altogether in 2012 -- so this may be the perfect time to invest in your business.

This tax saving is a great reason to investigate all the new technology that is on the market place.  From the alternative solvents to new innovations in pressing technology and automation.  For more information on technology and equipment, visit www.sefa.org a list of SEFA's Allied Members.  Make sure to call those that support your association and your industry!

For more detailed information about the 2010 Tax Relief bill, and the possible implications and rewards, American Drycleaner recently did a great 2-part article that can be found here:  www.americandrycleaner.com.  Go to the home page, and seach for "100% Depreciation".

For more information or to register for any of the above events, contact Jon at the SEFA office,(877) -707-7332 or send an e-mail to peter@sefa.org

In Memoriam:  Jerry Lieberman, Founder of B&G Lieberman
Gerald "Jerry" Lieberman, founder of B&G Lieberman and long time industry supporter died Thursday at his home while surrounded by his family.  He was 86.

In 1949, he started started his B&G Lieberman Co. which today is a distributor of sewing supplies to drycleaners and tailors.  He was a community and environmental activist for many organizations during his lifetime.

While he was born in Munich Germany in 1924, he emigrated to the United States in 1939, was drafted in 1942, and was given his citizenship.  His war record was impressive, and he was recently honored during the unveiling of a traveling exhibit called "Secret Heroes:  The Ritchie Boys".  For a fascinating article about his wartime contributions please follow this link:  "A Jewish Soldier's Revenge on the Nazis".

Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204
Easy-to-Do Ideas that Work -- Try Them!

Keeping Stills Going!

To keep your still working as it should, drain out all the residue at least once a week and scrape the sides and bottom clean.  Still residue will build up rapidly and slow down distillation.  Dirty stills also trap solvent in the residue, increasing your waste removal cost and solvent purchases.
