As we end 2009, we also close the first 100th years of Scouting in the United States. From the war bond effort to starting the first national food drive, Scouting has been a staple of American life.
Preparing tomorrow's leaders is the mission behind everything we do. Here in east central Iowa, the Hawkeye Area Council continues to keep youth first as we head into the second century.
Last year, over 110 young leaders again earned the rank of Eagle. Through quality trained leaders like you, we continued our tradition of high youth retention in the program. This means our boys are having fun and learning at the same time. Lastly, we focused on reaching out to all youth so all communities can experience the benefits of Scouting.
With all of this in mind, we promise to continue our strong stewardship and management of the gifts of time and treasure entrusted to our Council. They are investments in the future, one youth at a time. Thank you for making youth leadership development and character education possible for 7,000 outstanding young people.
We have grand plans to celebrate our Centennial in 2010. They include you. Thank you for your help, dedication and support. We are honored to have you in our Scouting family! |

All the best to you and your family
