Julie May  and  Judy Schnittjer shared the following example:

Behind every good man is a woman....pushing, encouraging, supporting.   Archie Cooey was involved in Scouting when he grew up in Texas.  He served in the Army Air Force, attended college, met and in 1949 married his wife, Marcheta.  While they lived in Brownsville, TX, Archie was involved with the Scouts at the Faith Presbyterian Church that they attended.   In 1956 they moved to Iowa where he continued to be involved because he believed the skills developed helped boys learn what they probably wouldn't get elsewhere.

Both of their sons, Bill, born in 1951 and Ralph, born in 1952, were brought up in a Scouting family.  Marcheta lead the Cub Scout Pack in which both boys were involved.   Bill went on to be a Scout leader, until his untimely death in 2008, making sure that the Scouts under his leadership reached the Eagle Scout level.   Ralph was involved with the Scouting program in Colorado while his son was involved.

Through the years from 1949 to 2008, Marcheta was a wife and mother who encouraged and supported Archie, Bill and Ralph throughout their Scouting endeavors.  Anyone who knows Marcheta knows she is a person who dedicates herself to family and the interests of her children (including daughter Debbie).

Marcheta is seen by many as a woman behind the Scouting endeavors of her family.  She doesn't realize the impact she had on them just as she's made an impact on many in the church and in the community through her involvement in other organizations.  Scouting was for the men in her family, but Marcheta allowed them to pursue their interests and supported all three of them along the way.
