Join the Scouting for Food Team This Saturday
The annual Scouting for Food drive is Saturday, October 24 throughout Anamosa, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Hiawatha, Iowa City, Marion, Monticello and Washington.
If you would like to make a difference for continued needs in our communities, please place your non-perishable food items out in front of your door by 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. Donations may be placed in any grocery sack. For more information, contact the Council office at 862-0541 or (877) HAWK-BSA. All of the food donated stays within Eastern Iowa. Donations will be directed to local food banks and churches for distribution to individuals in need. In 2008, Hawkeye Area Council communities generously gave 54,000 pounds of food to support local families in need. In 2009, the need remains strong in area communities.
Thanks to 2009 Scouting for Food sponsors Hy-Vee, International Paper, Rockwell Collins, KCRG TV-9 and the Show You Care Sponsors. You may also use the "Forward email" link at the bottom of this email to share this reminder with your family and friends.

Add Your Submission and Scouting Pride to 100 Years of Scouting Stories by December 31 !
"As the only girl in a family of five, my youth was full of Scouting activities! You'd have thought I was a member of the pack. Our mother was a Den Leader and I well remember projects like building stilts and perfecting pinewood derby cars. No matter what the activity, there was always laughter and a sense of accomplishment. Everyone helped one another and each person always learned something about themselves. I'm proud the next generation of our family continues to benefit from the values that Scouting teaches. I am grateful for the thousands of mothers across our nation who choose to spend their time developing young boys and men. Lifetime memories are created through an incredible program of exploration and discovery. Scouting values are timeless." - Sherri Lennarson, Iowa City
