Thanks for helping to safe a life!

Hawkeye Area Council hosted a Blood Drive  Tuesday, October 6. Donors gave 20 units of blood to benefit many local patients through the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

Variety Thank You, Variety, the Children's Charity!

Last month, Variety, the Children's Charity respresentatives Kim McDowell and Connie Hauskins presented a $3,000 grant to Hawkeye Area Council. The grant proceeds will be used to replace a walk-in freezer that was used when it was installed in the Troop Service Building at the Howard H. Cherry Scout Resveration in 1964. With a record-setting summer of 2009, Camp now serves more than 5,000 guests each year.

Vets Memorial Join the Veterans Memorial Rededication October 17

On Saturday, October 17, please plan to join this year's Wood Badge class at Camp Waubeek for the annual Veterans Memorial Rededication. The event starts at 11:11 a.m. in honor of the date the Armistice was signed to end World War I.

This year's event will honor all names on the Memorial Campfire Ring Wall and involved many of our honorable local Veterans groups. Join as we pause to remember and honor all Veterans whose sacrifices make our freedoms possible.

Scouting for Food Join the Scouting for Food Team October 24

Thank you! In 2008, Hawkeye Area Council communities generously gave 54,000 pounds of food to support local families in need. Every can donated and every step taken to collect donations through every neighborhood made a difference. In 2009, the need remains strong in our communities.

If you would like to make a different for continued needs in our communities, please place your non-perishable food items out in front of your door by 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. Donations may be placed in any grocery sack.

You may also use the "Forward email" link at the bottom of this email to share this reminder with your family and friends.
