COV busVisit the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site Sunday, September 13 for a Century of Values Visit
 
On Sunday, September 13, the Century of Values bus will make its Hawkeye Area Council stop as part of its nationwide tour to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.
 
The 32-foot bus is now confirmed to be in the parking lot next to the (West) Boy Scout Picnic Shelter on the Hoover Site grounds between Noon and 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 13. Touring the bus is expected to take just a few minutes. If you would like to visit just the bus, there is no charge.
 
This uniquely decorated RV is traveling to over 300 councils across America in celebration of 100 years of Scouting. The trip started in Michigan on February 8, 2009 and will end in Irving Texas on February 8th, 2010. It will cover 45,000 miles along the journey. The stop will include a chance to sign a Scouting birthday card. The Century of Values team  goal is to present 1,000,000 signatures when they conclude their tour in February 2010. Add yours in West Branch September 13!
 
While visiting the bus, you are also encouraged to also tour the Hoover Museum and National Historic Site grounds.  Museum admission is $6 for adults, $3 for seniors over age 61, and free for children 16 and under. The Museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. A virtual tour of all there is to learn and enjoy at the Hoover Site is available here.
 
While visiting West Branch, youth are encouraged to participate in the free Junior Ranger program at the Hoover National Historic Site. The full activity book is available online here.

Fry Fest Fry Fest Includes Scouting Tribute to Legendary Hawkeye Coach

 Rex Brandstatter and Life Scout Michael Hayworth presented a Norman Rockwell print to Coach Hayden Fry September 4 in recognition of his service to Scouting. The presentation took place during the Hayden Fry Way Ceremony Rex emceed.
 
Coach Fry was a Scout as a youth and served as an active supporter of local Scouting during his 1979-1998 tenure as Head Coach of Hawkeye Football. Scouting usher service at Hawkeye Football and Basketball games began during Coach Fry's leadership.
 
Thanks to all Scouts and their families who continue to serve so well welcoming and supporting Hawkeye fans!
