Thank You, Northwestern Mutual Foundation!
On Saturday, August 8, a special presentation was made at the Howard H. Cherry Scout Reservation. Scout Executive/CEO Travis Christopher accepted a $10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation in honor of Financial Advisor (and Council President) George Brunscheen.
The gift was given in honor of George being named an Outstanding Volunteer in the Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award Program, a national competition open to more than 9,000 Network representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.
2009 marks the 15th anniversary of the Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award program. Nearly $3 million dollars has been contributed to almost 300 organizations nationwide during that time.
George was nominated for this award by Northwestern Mutual Associate Financial Advisor Mary Schneekloth. He achieved his Eagle Scout distinction from the Hawkeye Area Council. His lifelong involvement in Scouting includes serving as a Unit Leader, Commissioner, Board Member, Council President and Chair of the Search Committee for the new Scout Executive/CEO.
The presentation was made during the annual "Buck a Day" celebration honoring hundreds of supporters who invest $1 a day or more in leadership development and character education for local youth.
Congratulations, George on this deserving honor! Thank you, George and Northwestern Mutual for your investment in the youth of Hawkeye Area Council! |
