Popcorn for Patriots a Success

PopcornPatriots

Honoring the Scout Oath and Law means always remembering and serving others. In this sprit, the 2008 Hawkeye Area Council Popcorn campaign added the "Popcorn for Patriots" program.

Thanks to the hard work of Scouts who sold popcorn and strong community support for US military personnel, 994 packages of tasty popcorn were shipped to area troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Area Cub Scouts gathered at the Council Service Center in early Janaury to ensure the popcorn was ready to go and included letters of support and thanks from Scouts across Hawkeye Area Council. An e-mail address has been established to facilitate continued communication with and appreciation for our brave men and women in uniform.

Thanks to all the popcorn packers: Popcorn Chairman Paul Stultz and his wife Sherri, Den Leader Doug Alberhasky, Cub Scouts JD Alberhasky, Kevin Berg and Callum Ferrer (all with Pack 200), Kathleen Steacy with Pack 89 and Matt Stilwell with Pack 206, as well as Anita Munson on the Council staff. All who made this projet happen are appreciated!
