Meet Community Connector - Margaret Gray
"I am a native of San Francisco, California and was raised in the Bayview District. I have found myself to be a people person of all ages. I work closely with the children at my local church and have developed many relationships with seniors as well.
Due to the economy, I lost my job in 2009 in the corporate sector; began to search for something with meaning and results for people. In 2010 I was introduce to Community Living Campaign and became a Community Connector.
Prior to CLC I did some volunteering with HERC (Health Environmental Resource Center) in the Bayview District preparing for their annual Breast Cancer Luncheon. Being a Breast Cancer Survivor myself, I found it to be very rewarding. I now assist with a newly developed Breast Cancer Support group for seniors in the OMI district with Deloris McGee, also a Community Connector. Currently, I volunteer at UC Mt. Zion at the Cancer Resource Center, providing resources and support for the patients and their families. In addition, I lend a hand in packing 50-53 boxes of food to deliver directly to the homes of seniors and people with disabilities twice a month in the OMI District with CLC. In my spare time, I like to make people laugh as a comedian.
CLC helps seniors to age in place and people with disabilities to strive with independence. We find that planning and providing social events, presenting resources, and offering computer networking and awareness has allowed many to close the gap of isolation. On occasion, I teach computer classes on graphics, creating greeting cards or sending holiday greeting cards electronically. Being connected, far or near, can make a difference in someone's life. If "Each one, reached one" this would make a difference in our communities, our cities, our states, and our country. Let's stay connected."

What is CareLinx?
A secure online caregiving community who sees their mission is to empower those in need of in-home care to easily find, video interview, run background checks, hire and manage caregivers that match their specific needs and budget online. They have Certified Geriatric Care Managers that help families navigate the process of evaluating caregivers and developing a care plan. Caregivers that are paid through CareLinx are bonded and insured.
How Does It Works? This secure website features approximately 4,500 professionals on CareLinx, ranging from companionship caregivers to HHA's, MA's, CNA's, LPN's and RN's. Caregivers create profiles free of charge, including a photograph, education, experience, skills, hourly rates, and personal characteristics. Care seekers post jobs, complete a compatibility questionnaire and are then matched with caregivers that fit their needs and
budget.
Once a potential match is found, they provide supportive tools such as background checks, video chat, online scheduling, GPS shift tracking, automated invoicing, payment processing via credit or debit, and many more. For more information, go to www.carelinx.com or call (800) 494-3106.
