Flummoxed with Facebook? Trumped by Twitter? Plain annoyed when you hear "just look it up online" when all you want is a phone number or public transportation information?
Join us on May 15 for the Aging and Disability Technology Summit, a day-long event aimed at demystifying the Internet and the latest broadband technologies.
Through knowledgeable speakers, hands-on interactive computer demos, in-depth workshops and one-on-one tutoring, you'll come away with the confidence to send email, search for information on Google and more.
Translation offered for plenary sessions, and bilingual docents in Spanish, Cantonese and Russian available for workshops and tutoring.
The Summit, open to all San Francisco seniors and adults with disabilities, will be held at City Hall. The cost is free, however, pre-registration is required. The Summit is sponsored, in part, by the Department of Aging and Adult Services and the
Broadband Technology Opportunities Program.
To learn more, visit www.sfhealthyaging.org. Registration opens March 15th.

We've Got A Brand New Blog!!!

Thanks to support from the Metta Fund, we have just launched a new Blog (or on-line Journal) in support of helping San Franciscans have a good life as we age. We are currently developing the curriculum and soon will be taking it "on the road" to many of the computer centers, churches and other sites where seniors and their supporters would benefit. The new project, called Healthy Aging Network Connections, will include training about how to access quality healthy information, connect with support and services and safely retrieve and store their personal health information on-line. Another outcome is to connect individuals with networks of support, whether their personal goal is to start walking, control their diabetes, eat healthier, or to just find more meaning and purpose in their lives. Connector Marcia Peterzell, with partner Linda Silver, is helping us shape this new training. Watch this space for more information, or subscribe to our new blog at www.sfhealthyaging.org. |

Support Grassroots Advocacy... End the Medicare Home Rule
Local Medicare Advocate Peggy Coster has started an on-line petition to do away with the Medicare Home Rule. This policy refuses wheelchairs or home chore assistance for people with degenerative neuromuscular disablities. It creates painful isolation and costs taxpayers more in the end. So far, with your help, 857 people have signed. Help support Peggy's leadership by signing this petition HERE!
