We Are Honored to Have Known Her
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We recently lost a wise woman, trusted colleague, and good friend. Norma Satten was President of the Community Living Campaign Board of Directors and provided smart and spirited leadership to so many local organizations and initiatives that her loss will be felt for a long time to come.
Over the coming months and years, we hope to find new ways to honor her memory and continue her work. She was a role model for health aging and a community leader with a broad vision for how neighborhoods, housing, health and social services all need to come together to help seniors and persons with disabilties age in community.
Her contributions have been recognized since her passing by the Board of Supervisors, the Mayor's Council on Disabilities, the Aging and Adult Services Commission, the Long Term Care Coodinating Council. The Museum of Perfomance and Design has created the Norma F. Satten scholarship to the Legacy Oral History Program's Oral History Workshop. Other thoughts, let us know. |
Elder Economic Security Leadership Forum - July 29 9:00 a.m.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We welcome broad participation from senior leaders and service providers alike at the July 29th Event. Please register to assure there is enough material and lunches for everyone.
Helping more San Francisco seniors find economic security means access to a range of services and supports in a holistic way. Please join us to explore ways to help older San Franciscans make it through these tough times. By providing more "economic casework" and collaborating to share resources across issue areas, we hope to weave together a more comprehensive package of services and supports.
As important, we will continue a conversation about how government policies and priorities might shift to better "help seniors make ends meet" in San Francisco. Sessions will tap local expertise as well as information from NCOA leaders in Washington for a perspective from the "beltway" and ways we might tell our story and connect more broadly using video and social media.
9:00 Welcome and Introductions, Resource Exchange 10:00 Networking Activity 10:30 Work Groups on Key Issues 11:30 Highlights and Next Steps
Noon Lunch (Reservation Required)
(Registrants will recieve a more detailed agenda)
NCOA's SECURITY INITIATIVE - A HOLISTIC APPROACH Do you see you and your organization represented in this image? Then imagine what is possible if we all worked together across silos to help individuals and families make ends meet.
