From June 13-17, Hope will be hosting a leadership program (DELTA EMERGING LEADERSHIP TRAINING ACADEMY) for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors from the Navajo reservation (New Mexico), Lutheran Church of Hope, Elim Christian Fellowship, and Freedom for Youth in Des Moines. The mission of the program is to identify individuals with leadership potential and train, encourage and hold them accountable for leading change in their homes, communities and churches. The students spend mornings in the "classroom" at Hope, then spend the afternoons working in the mission field (various missions in and around Des Moines).

Volunteers are needed in the following capacity:

1) Serving food and clean up at meals (a good opportunity for small groups) - Contact Joyce Fedderson

2) Hospitality hosts (staying with students overnight) - Contact Bev Fry

Mission Navajo featured this month

There are photographs from Hope's mission trips on the east wall of the Atrium. The display will feature a new mission trip each month - this month is Mission Navajo. There are two more Navajo trips planned this year in June and September. Keep all the team members in your prayers.

Daily Reflection Calendar
This year focuses on missions so Hope will have a monthly focus on local and worldly issues - poverty, orphans, AIDS awareness, clean water, and more. To go along with the monthly focus, there will be a daily reflection calendar at www.hopewdm.org/missions with suggestions for how you can lift up what God is doing in the world and in Des Moines. Check out the new June calendar!

Back to School Health Fair

CFUM will host the 11th Annual Back-to-School Health Fair on Wednesday, July 13, from 3:00-7:00 pm. The Fair will take place in conjunction with the Moulton Extended Learning Center's Back to School Open House. Last year the event benefited more than 400 students and families.

The Back-to-School Health Fair takes lots of planning and gathering and donations to pull it off.You can help by joining the Planning Team, volunteering the week before or the day of the fair, or purchasing gifts cards for ice, water and  supplies for the day. To be a part of the Back-to-School Health Fair, contact Kristin Maahs at 238-8978.
