HV/AC UPDATE

You have been so great in helping us meet our goal for funding new heating and air conditioning in the church.  To date, we have received $71,195 from 169 donors.  If you haven't had the opportunity to join this effort, it's not too late - just contact  Kathy Geddes at 283-0272#207 or kgeddes@stperpetua.org.

As you may have noticed, the project didn't get started last week but we are on our way to starting soon.  The plans are in the process of being re-engineered and then they will be reviewed for the necessary building permit.  As soon as we have the permit in hand, we will begin possibly as soon as  next week.

Watch upcoming parish bulletins and the next edition of "The  Timely Perpetuan" for further updates.

Jump into Faith Formation

Registration for the 2011-12 faith formation program will begin in a few weeks.  Registration packets will be mailed to families currently enrolled in the program.  Additional registration packets will be available in the back of the church, in the parish office, and can be downloaded from our
parish website.  Register by August 1 to avoid the late fees.  Classes begin Oct. 2 & 4.  The third grade students in Cynthia Curcuro and Lynda Rotundo's class are literally jumping for joy during a recent faith formation class.

First Eucharist

FE
St. Perpetua second graders preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time participated in an afternoon retreat this past Sunday.  First Eucharist Masses are May 7 & 14 at 5:00pm and May 8 & 15 at 9:30 and 11:30am.  Our community celebrates with these families!

The Edge

The Edge middle school religious education program concluded on Tuesday, April 26th with our 8th Grade Send Off.  This year the 96 students studied the Bible, Creed, and social justice.  The students did several community service projects to benefit children and families in need in Contra Costa County.  May 14th will be our community dance for all 7th and 8th graders.

Teen News

St. Perpetua's Ministry to teens had a great April with service projects concluding, our monthly teen mass, and a Seder Supper for Confirmation candidates on Palm Sunday. Confirmation day is Saturday May 21 at the Cathedral with the Bishop presiding.  Keep these young people who have chosen to formally continue their faith formation during high school, in your prayers as they conclude their preparation with the discernment process.  Youth Group gathers on a few more Wednesdays taking a look at the Easter season, the Catholic holidays, and our traditions.   The year concludes with a look forward on Wednesday, May 18.

Questions, check out the parish website or drop Gary an e-mail.

School News

This week St. Perpetua School celebrates the many gifts and treasures of our teachers and staff.  These dedicated professionals are committed to continuing the strong traditions of Catholic education by imparting Gospel values, academic excellence, and spiritual awareness throughout all aspects of the school day.  Our community is blessed by their teaching expertise, wisdom, and kindness.  We are grateful for all they do to support our school and parish community.  Please continue to pray for our teachers and students as we enter into the final phase of the school year, and for teachers everywhere who work so diligently with children.
