OKTOBERFEST 2010
|
 Join us this Sunday, October 3, 12:30 - 4:30
Bring family and
friends, fellow parishioners and neighbors to our
annual fall community gathering. Enjoy shaded outdoor dining with BBQ
chicken sandwiches, as well as hot dogs,
hamburgers, pizza and lots of other tasty foods. The Kenny Goodwin Band will provide live
music! Be sure to bring your dance shoes. There will be games
and inflatables for kids of all ages to keep them happy and
entertained (while you enjoy yourself with a cold beer or a margarita).
There's a Silent
Auction with dozens of surprise gift baskets and the
ever-popular Cakewalk.
Cakes should be
dropped off in the Religious Resource Center on Sunday morning. Booth
workers please check in at the hospitality booth. 50/50 raffle tickets
will be available at the ticket booth and directly from our pastor, Fr.
John, or on our website. |

In recent times, the disciplines of physics and astrophysics
have played a central role in shaping our understanding of our universe through
scientific observations and experiments. But our occupation with
understanding the world we live in has a long history of observation and
speculation (details).

Faith Formation Update
| K-5 Classes begin Tuesday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 10. Please contact Cathy Giroux at 283-0272 X204 for inquiries or with generous offers to assist with the program.

Teen News
| Our teen youth ministry program began on September 19 with a Teen / Family Youth Mass. Last year's Confirmandi greeted this year's candidates at the mass. Youth Group and Confirmation began last week as well. If you have a teen interested in taking a look at the programs, have them stop by on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 for a youth group gathering to see what is up this year for Teens @ St. Perpetua - and yes it is ok to bring a friend! BAFFLED BY THIS YEAR'S BALLOT INITIATIVES?
|  Save Monday, October 11, at 7:00 PM, for a presentation of many of this year's Ballot Initiative pros and cons presented by members of the non-partisan League of Women Voters. SAGE is sponsoring an informational evening on the many ballot questions facing voters in the November election. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. This event will take place in the parish hall.

School News
|  The 7th annual St.
Perpetua igolf tournament, held on Monday, September 27, was a huge success! Thank you to all the
school families, parishioners and alumni who supported this event. Our
very own Matt Wolka, Music mMnister, showed great form on the 7th
hole! All proceeds will support technology enhancements and
advancements for the students of St. Perpetua School.
The students and families of St. Perpetua School recently held a paper drive to assist St. Cornelius School. The Fifth Grade students helped to pack two cars full of copy paper of various colors and then deliver the paper to St. Cornelius!
Thank you to all who contributed to this cause!

Outreach News
| St. P's Food Basket Collection will be on Oct. 9/10. Items needed: Canned or Dried BEANS - (refried,
pinto, black, kidney, pork and baked).
Blue Barrel Collection The Outreach Committee is collecting new or
gently used BLANKETS, TOWELS, WASH CLOTHS & TWIN SHEETS on Oct. 16/17 and Oct. 23/24. All these items will be donated to the Contra Costa Interfaith Coalition.

Cafe` Perpetua
|
Fall is in the air and at Cafe` Perpetua. Please join us on Fridays during October from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. During the month of October, besides our usual homemade breakfast goodies, we will be featuring daily specials such as pumpkin spice bundt cakes, pumpkin cheesecake bars, caramel apple muffins to name a few! Also for sale will be organic pies (blackberry, blueberry, caramel apple, and vanilla peach), organic jams (blackberry, blueberry, peach, raspberry and strawberry), pumpkin breads, pumpkin butters, basil pesto, oven-roasted tomato sauce and fresh produce and eggs from the Garden of Learning. We so look forward to seeing you! Besides direct donations to the garden, Cafe` Perpetua is the sole support for the garden. Your patronage and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
