Welcome to our new Music Director | We
are happy to welcome Mr. Matt Wolka as our Director of Music Ministry and the
newest member of our parish staff. Matt is eager and enthusiastic, very outgoing
and enjoyable. He is a capable musical artist, proficient in organ, piano and
electronic keyboard, holding a Master's degree in Liturgical Music from Concordia
University in Illinois. He has had a wide range of musical experience, including
a large urban Catholic parish in Chicago. Please help to make Matt's entry into
St. Perpetua's community an inviting and encouraging experience. He will soon be looking to expand our choir
and invite the participation of more parishioners as cantors, choir members and
instrumentalists. |

Nationally renowned
author and preacher Fr. Tom Allender's parish mission was well received. An average of 40-60 people attended the morning sessions and 70-90 came to his evening presentations. If you were unable to attend his talks you can purchase his books and/or CDs at his web site www.lifesjourney.org.
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us, Fr. Tom!

Parish Support
| One of the biggest challenges facing St.
Perpetua is to predict our revenues, particularly during the
summer months. Electronic giving is a program that has been successful
at St. Perpetua with over 130 families participating. Your contribution can automatically be charged monthly to your bank card. For those not
currently signed up, please consider this method of supporting your parish The electronic giving sign-up for can be found here. For more information contact
Kathy Geddes at kgeddes@stperpetua.org or 283-0272#207.
PAVING AND PAINTING Your support is needed to maintain our building and grounds. Our lower parking lot needed to be repaired/sealed and exteriors of our office, chapel/ residence and church buildings need to be repainted for a total cost of $80,000. So far we've received $35,000 in contributions from about 35 families. Let's be faithful stewards of the property entrusted to us. Please mail your contribution (with painting/paving in the memo section) to 3454 Hamlin Rd., Lafayette, 94549. If you'd like to contribute by credit card, please contact Kathy (see above).
Thank you so much for your generosity.

Teen News
| Saturday, May 22, fifty-two teens from St. Perpetua were confirmed at the Cathedral of Christ The Light in a beautiful ceremony with Bishop Cordilione presiding. Father John Kasper concelebrated and Deacon Luis Rivilla served. We are also fortunate to have Elliot Megowan, brother of one of the candidates, as altar server. Santa Maria (Orinda) and St. Elizabeth's (Oakland) joined our candidates for this special liturgy, where 154 candidates in total were confirmed. St. Perpetua's candidates presented the gifts of the community to the Bishop and read the petitions of the candidates and assembly. Following the ceremony the Bishop took pictures with the Confirmandi. Teens, who are least a sophomore in high school, will find details about next year's Confirmation preparation program in July on the parish website or by contacting Gary. |
