Lenten Talk by Fr. Declan McCarron

On Tuesday, March 23, at 9:00 AM in the Parish Hall, Father Declan McCarron will speak  on psychology and spirituality-healthy mind and soul-how they support one another.  Fr. Declan is one of the priests  from Ireland who has been celebrating the Masses with us since last summer.  This will be a very thought provoking discussion and all parishioners and friends are invited to attend. A continental breakfast will be served.  Morning Mass this day will be at 8:30 am in the Church.  This event is sponsored by SAGE.

  SHOES FOR HAITI
shoes
Faith Formation families assisted an organization called "Soles4Souls" to collect shoes (new or slightly worn) for the earthquake victims in Haiti. This organization sponsors shoe campaigns and distributes the shoes worldwide.  Many of the Haitian earthquake survivors aren't used to wearing shoes; however it has become a necessity with the hazardous devastation.

Cindy Dougherty organized St. Perpetua's participation in this project.  Within 72 hours, 1,574 pairs of shoes were collected and shipped to Haiti!   Cindy's request for shoes resulted in other parishioners picking up the idea and collecting shoes at their children's schools and neighborhoods.  Donna Elliott was instrumental in collecting 1000 pairs of shoes by publicizing the collection at Stanley Middle School and elsewhere.  Private donors paid for the shipping of the shoes to Haiti.

The success of this project speaks volumes about the generosity and compassion of the Lafayette community.  For more information about this organization, visit www.soles4souls.org.

WINTER NIGHTS FUND RAISER
A huge thank you to Julie Sabbadini, Monica Chappell and all other crew members, along with the 6th graders, who put on such a wonderful event last Saturday. Many thanks to all the teens who helped with clean up. The pasta and desserts were excellent. Thank you to all who came and supported this fabulous event. The total amount raised and sent to Winter Nights is $2609. The same night we also recognized and honored two of our many VIPs (Very Important Perpetuans), Julie Sabbadini and Pat Hennessy. The St. Perpetua Community appreciates all their many contributions of time, talent and treasure. We feel blessed to have them among us.
