HELP for HAITI |
During the recovery and relief efforts, pray for those still trapped in the rubble, pray for the families who have lost loved ones, pray for the doctors and nurses, pray for the relief workers.
A special collection will be taken this weekend to help the people of Haiti. Catholic Relief Services is responding to the growing need for food, water, shelter and health supplies. Haiti is our poorest neighbor and was still recovering from deadly 2008 hurricanes when the quake struck. If you're unable to contribute this weekend, you can donate online by clicking on the link below or send a check to Catholic Relief Services, P. O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203. Donate now to CRSLast Sunday, Fr. John spoke about Fr. Hom Hagan, OSFS, a member of his religious congregation, who has been working in Haiti for the past twenty years. His organization, "Hands Together," which has fed, clothed and educated thousands of Haitian children, has been severely affected by the earthquake. If you wish to make a donation directly to his efforts to help rebuild the lives of the Haitian people, you can send it to: Rev. Joseph Morrissey, OSFS, 1801 N. Catholic School's Week 2010
|
Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation's Catholic schools and will be observed Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 2010. All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland will celebrate this week with special events, liturgies, programs and an OPEN HOUSE! According to Karen Goodshaw, St. Perpetua School Principal, "Catholic schools provide good things for students and families. In these challenging times, the theme also reminds parents that the dividends of a Catholic school education last a lifetime. There is no better way to invest in a child's future-or the future of our world." Please join us at the Family Mass at 9:30 on Sunday, January 31st, and for some or all of the following events.
K-8 Open House & Tours Open House: Sunday, January 31, 10:30am - 12:00pm School Tours: Monday, February 1, 9:30am or by appointment K-5 Presentation/Meet Teachers & Students: Wednesday, February 3, 6:30pm Junior High Presentation/Meet Teachers & Students: Sunday, January 31, 12:00pm For a personal tour, call 925-284-1640 or email lladouceur@csdo.org

WINTER NIGHTS FUND RAISER
|
Please come join us for a spaghetti dinner on Saturday, February 6, immediately following the 5:00 pm mass in the church hall to benefit the Winter Nights program. In recent years St. Perpetua has hosted multiple working homeless families for one or two weeks during the cold winter months in our church hall. This year many churches volunteered (including some that have never had the opportunity before) so we gave up our week to another caring church community. Nonetheless, the needs of these families for food, clothing, and basic everyday goods is ever present. We would love for your family to join us for dinner as we gather to celebrate our faith and do something positive to help others in our community. Tickets are available after all the Masses on January 23/24 and January 30/31 and at the parish office. They are $10 for adults, $5 for children (5-12) and free under 4. Please contact Julie Sabbadini at 957-1785 for more information, ways you can help, or to make a cash donation. Thank you!

8th graders help at Concord Shelter
|
8th grader from St. Perpetua School recently completed their outreach project by serving a meal at North Concord Shelter. The class divided into teams, where each student chose a way to contribute to the process. Student teams consisted of publicity, photography, shopping, food prep, and serving. The students described this experience as "life-changing", "inspiring", and "incredible". The students are currently completing a bulletin board to share their experience with the entire St. Perpetua Community.
