Youth volunteer at Food Bank
|
For the second time this school year, St. Perpetua Youth volunteered at the Contra Costa Food Bank. The group of 17 teens and 4 chaperones sorted food and packed boxes for food pantries on Wednesday, December 2. The group spent 2 hours at the facility. The teens also heard from Food Bank staff on the growing problems in our communities that have increased the need for the food the Food Bank provides. The youth group will return to the facility in late January.

Catholic School's Week 2010
|
Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation's Catholic schools and will be observed Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 2010. All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland will celebrate this week with special events, liturgies, programs and OPEN HOUSES! According to Karen Goodshaw, St. Perpetua School Principal, "Catholic schools provide good things for students and families. In these challenging times, the theme also reminds parents that the dividends of a Catholic school education last a lifetime. There is no better way to invest in a child's future-or the future of our world." Please join us at the family Mass at 9:30 on Sunday, January 31 and for some or all of the following events.
K-8 Open House & Tours Open House: Sunday, January 31, 10:30am - 12:00pm School Tours: Monday, February 1, 9:30am or by appointment K-5 Presentation/Meet Teachers & Students: Wednesday, February 3, 6:30pm Junior High Presentation/Meet Teachers & Students: Sunday, January 31, 12:00pm For a personal tour, call 925-284-1640 or email lladouceur@csdo.org

THANK YOU to all who responded to our plea last month, but we still need Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and altar servers. Please help us out to avoid burn out and over scheduling for our current ministers.
Altar Servers Both adults and youth in fourth grade and older, help with preparations before Mass, assist the presider during the service, and lead the procession with the gifts. To become a server, click here.
Eucharistic Ministers Share the bread and cup with the assembly at Eucharist. To become a Eucharistic Minister, click here. Lectors Proclaim the Word of God in our worship. They prepare to minister by prayer, practice and reflection on Scripture. To become a Lector, click here.
