Fiesta de Mayo: Friday, May 1
Plan to join us for Moonlight in Acapulco beginning at 6:00 p.m., in the parish hall. Music and entertainment for the whole family, including a pinata for the children. The evening begins with a no-host margarita/beer bar, a Tex-Mex potluck dinner with all of the ambiance in the world!  Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-10.  Seating is limited, so get your tickets after Mass this weekend or by calling the parish office at 283-0272.

Job Support Network
Fr. John has been approached by parishioners who have lost their jobs due to the present global economic situation. He is challenging us as a faith community to see if there is a form of assistance that we can offer those of us who may need help in adjusting to these new realities. Last month we asked you to take a survey to let us know which areas you feel you or affected parishioners would utilize if we made these available. Several of you have submitted this survey and the committee will meet on May 7 to discuss and plan the next steps. If you haven't taken the survey you can still do so prior to May 7.

In the meantime, please join us for a workshop on
"How to strategically and effectively seek employment during an economic downturn - step by step do's and don'ts so you increase your chances of finding your next best opportunity"
given by Teresa Carlos on Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the hall (details and agenda).
Teens serve the Community

Gary Guerrero, our youth minister, is accompanying five teens who will participate in a week-long experience of service, faith learning, prayer, liturgy, and community building from July 12-18 in San Francisco through the Young Neighbors in Action program.  The principles of Catholic Social Teaching and celebration of Eucharist are essential and explicit elements of the Young Neighbors experience.

The teens will be sponsoring a See's Candies Sale after all the Masses on May 9 & 10 to raise money to offset program costs.  Support the YNA team and complete your Mother's Day shopping at the same time!

  Easter Egg Hunt

On Easter Sunday after the 9:30 Mass, the Knights of Columbus sponsored their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Photos with the Easter Bunny, held at the school amphitheater.

On that beautiful Easter morning, many parishioners upon leaving Mass joined in fellowship with coffee and donuts while children of all ages searched for the 1,500 eggs hidden on the lawn behind the school. Also, the Easter Bunny was available for visits and pictures to remember the day. In a little more than an hour, 95 Polaroid pictures with the Easter Bunny were given away.

The Knights greatly appreciate the support of the parish in making this event such a success. While many Knights  participated in the morning activities, particular acknowledgment is due Pat Hennessy who had overall responsibility and to Brian Mosel who made possible the visit from the Easter Bunny.

Reflection
solidarity
At a time of world food shortage, of financial turmoil, of old and new forms of poverty, of disturbing climate change, of violence and deprivation which force many to leave their homelands in search of a less precarious form of existence, of the ever-present threat of terrorism, of growing fears over the future, it is urgent to rediscover grounds for hope. Let no one draw back from this peaceful battle that has been launched by Christ's Resurrection. For as I said earlier, Christ is looking for men and women who will help him to affirm his victory using his own weapons:  the weapons of justice and truth, mercy, forgiveness and love.
