My husband Jim has been a member for about 5 years and I have heard nothing but great things about Lifestyle from him, so I thought I would give it a try after my old gym membership expired. Shortly after joining I saw for myself why Jim likes this place so much. Lifestyle is different; there is a sense of "no-failurism" in the air. The staff really wants you to succeed, they have helped me to get my workouts to another level that I do not think I would have been able to achieve on my own. The atmosphere at Lifestyle makes you want to do your best, all the people in the gym are working hard and it motivates you to work hard also.
Goals: Of course I have a goal weight I'm trying to obtain, but more important than "weight" is body fat. When I started working out I was dropping weight like crazy, but I reached a point where I leveled off and my weight remained the same. It was frustrating; but then I was educated on body fat. Even though I wasn't losing the "weight" I was still losing body fat. I could tell by the way my clothes were fitting. My overall goal is to be a healthy person, no matter what I weigh, meaning a low body fat measurement, low blood pressure, low cholesterol, and all those important health things. My approach: My exercise routine consists of a one hour cardio workout three or four days a week, For me this means running, or I walking on an incline. I have three different strength routines I do opposite my cardio days. I do yoga consistently at home, it's not much of a calorie burning workout but the benefits are wonderful! My eating habits are simple; for breakfast I eat oatmeal with fruit or toast, lunch is always a sandwich with chips and fruit, and dinner is white meat, including chicken breast and turkey meat or fish. Not so much red meat, about once every two weeks I will eat a steak. I eat lots of steamed veggies, and I try to only eat carbs during the day, not so much at night. Results: Since I started my exercise journey about two years ago I have lost 60 lbs, and four dress sizes. Fun facts: My favorite hobby is playing with my 5-year old son. We play baseball, football, soccer and board games. I also enjoy gardening and running with my husband, he is way faster than me but its good fun times. I love being a mother and wife, it makes me so happy to know my family is taken care of. It is such a great feeling at the end of the day knowing you have taken care of yourself by exercising and taken care of your family too. |
