Thai Yoga Comes to Lifestyle

We are pleased to introduce Jovey Bermudo and Thai Yoga. Jovey is a licensed massage therapist and has been working in the Houston area for 4 years. He recently started his own massage therapy business and we are happy to help him introduce Thai Yoga to The Woodlands. We have made space for Jovey at the club to perform Thai Yoga for our members.

Thai Yoga is a whole body technique that can increase the flow of energy through the body by releasing tension and energy blockages by combining gentle stretches, breathing practices and acupressure. Thai Yoga is performed lying fully clothed on a mat on the floor, dressed in comfortable clothing to allow ease of movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used

Ken and I have tried it and give it a big thumbs up! You can do Thai Yoga if you have a specific area of concern or if you just need/want a little more flexibility.

Jovey will be at the club every Monday 8-10am and 5-7pm. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ups are welcome during available hours. Thai Yoga sessions outside normal hours can be made by calling the club. Sessions are scheduled in 30 minute blocks. The cost is $40 per block, and payment should be made by cash or check.

We are excited to have Jovey's services for you and encourage you to feel the difference Thai Yoga can make! Call us if you have any questions.

The BOSU
You've got your balance, and added some movement. It's time to incorporate a bicep curl.

Use a lighter dumbbell than usual while you refine this skill. Then, step onto the BOSU holding the weights. Set your core and lift.

Please remember, even at Lifestyle Fitness, to exercise caution when going to or leaving your car.

Hide them or don't leave valuables in the car.

Speed Up Your Metabolism

Having a fast metabolism is just something you are born with, right?  Not true. While some people seem to have a fast metabolism naturally, there are several factors that influence how fast, or slow, your metabolism will be.

Physical Activity the single greatest factor influencing your metabolism. Simply put, more activity means more fuel requirements which means burning more calories.
Muscle Mass an individual with greater muscle tissue will need more calories. Muscle is the bodys engine and requires more fuel.
Body Size the larger the body, the more energy required to move it.
Food Digestion the process of digesting food requires calories.  Studies have shown an increase in resting metabolism by as much as 10% for those starting their day with a good breakfast.

You have control over most of these factors.  Use them to rev up your engines and turn yourself into a calorie burning machine.

Eat This... Not That
The Cheesecake Factory

Surprised? You bet!

We certainly don't recommend a hamburger as a "healthy" food, but every once in a while it can be a real treat. What we don't want is for you to be tricked into thinking you are ordering a healthy alternative.

This example underscores the need to be a smart consumer. Restaurant menus can be a mine field. If possible, try to review the nutrition information for the restaurant before you go, and be prepared with your choice based on the numbers.
