How Do We Give Thanks in the Midst of Loss?

Naturally, most of us enjoy giving thanks at Thanksgiving for the good things of life.

But what if Thanksgiving rolls around this year, and all we can remember is loss? A few days ago, for instance, barely a week before Thanksgiving, I did a funeral service for another child who had died. We know, most of us do, that death is inevitable in this life; but none of us is prepared when a child dies before his parents do. Read more.

2011 Buckhead Community Thanksgiving Service

We invite you on Sunday, November 20 at 6 p.m. to join our neighboring churches, pastors, and choirs for the annual Buckhead Community Thanksgiving Service. Each year the location of this service moves to one of the participating churches, giving our congregations a chance to visit each other's houses of worship. The preachers rotate each year as well. Choristers from each of the six participating churches sing together. This year the location is the Wieuca Road Baptist Church, 3626 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342, and the preacher is Dr. David Sapp, Senior Pastor of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church.
