"It's Not About You," was how a recent newspaper opinion piece by David Brooks was titled (The New York Times, May 31, 2011); the article reflected upon the journey of recent college graduates. Like many of you, I was attracted to Brooks' words, because they angled distinctively in a Christian direction. He noted that so many recent college graduates have been ill-prepared-by their elders-for how the world really needs us to lose ourselves. read more

Please join us for our special summer series, The Ten Essential Bible Stories. Each Sunday at 10:10 a.m. in Child Hall, a new speaker will present the fundamentals for each of the ten Bible stories and why they are essential to life in the world today.

Canterbury Road: A discussion of Episcopal theology, history, and practice (Room 380)

Beginning Sunday, June 19 the Rev. Buddy Crawford and Canon Todd Smelser will lead a new class for adults who wish to be baptized, confirmed or received into The Episcopal Church. The class is also designed for members who desire a "refresher" or the opportunity to delve deeper in Episcopal identity. Class meets on Sundays at 10:10 a.m.

Wedding Guild training

Are you interested in joining the Cathedral's Wedding Guild or perhaps just want to learn more about the guild's role? The Wedding Guild is a diverse group who have the key responsibility of shepherding the brides, grooms, families and wedding party members through rehearsal and wedding logistics. Please contact Jeannie Mahood at 404-365-1034 or jmahood@stphilipscathedral.org with questions or to sign up for the training on Saturday, July 9, 10 a.m. until noon, in the Cathedral.

20s30s go tubing on the Chattahoochee

On Saturday, June 25 the 20s30s will be leisurely floating down the Chattahoochee River on tubes. Come relax for a few hours on the river. Wear a bathing suit, sun screen, and shoes you can wear in the water. Bring something to drink/share and a towel. We usually start north of the city and get out just before I-285. Respond to the evite if you're interested in coming. There will be a nominal cost to cover the rental of the floats. For questions please contact Mark Howard or Sarah Guthrie.  

Youth Ministries
Fellini's Bible Studies during the summer

  
Join us for Bible Study on Wednesdays this summer! 9th-12th grade Upper School students and 7th-8th grade Middle School students will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fellini's (across the street from the Cathedral).  

 

Please bring money to help out with meals. Scripture is provided.

Sheri Castle is the author of The New Southern Garden Cookbook: Enjoying the Best from Homegrown Gardens, Farmers' Markets, Roadside Stands, and CSA Farm Boxes which celebrates and promotes the delicious, healthful homemade meals made possible by the diverse array of seasonal fruits and vegetables grown in the South and most of the rest of the nation as well. Sheri will be at the Market on June 18.

 

The Market meets in the Cathedral parking lot on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
