Bring the instrument of your choice and meet in the horseshoe drive before the 8:45 and/or 11:15 a.m. services on Sunday, April 17. |

Adult Education
Adult education classes will not meet on Palm Sunday, April 17 or Easter, April 24. Sunday classes will resume on May 1.

Upper School Spring Retreat
Please pray for our Upper School Youth and Sponsors on Spring Retreat this weekend (April 15-17) in Sewanee, Tennessee. "Our Trojan Horse" is the retreat theme this year as they explore the hidden treasures that remain concealed as we navigate through life.

Week of Wonder registration ends April 20!
Week of Wonder (WOW) is a creation themed Vacation Bible School centered on the Parable of the Sower.WOW is open to children who are three years old before March 1, 2011 through rising 5th graders. All participating children must be fully potty-trained. Week of Wonder will be June 6 - 10 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Register here from now until Wednesday, April 20. The cost is $50 per child. Late registrations will be accepted only until the program is at capacity and will incur a late fee of $30 per child.

Friday, May 20 - Sunday, May 22Weekend activities include a cook out, fellowship, spiritual discussion, prayer service, and free time at the beach. The cost is a non-refundable $75 for the weekend. Bring additional cash to split the cost of gas and for dinner out Saturday night. Please make out checks to the Cathedral of Saint Philip and give them to Toby Reed or the Cathedral by Sunday, May 6. Cathedral Schola to Sing Meditation on the Passion of Christ, With Carols
On Sunday, April 17 at 4 p.m., in lieu of our weekly service of Evensong, the Cathedral will offer our annual Meditation on the Passion of Christ, with Carols, sung by the Cathedral Schola. This service, built on the "Lessons and Carols" format, consists of scriptural and poetic readings appropriate to the season, punctuated by choral carols and anthems, chanted Gospels, and congregational hymnody.

Reception to Honor David Fishburn, Associate Organist/Choirmaster
The Cathedral Choir would like to invite the entire Cathedral congregation to attend a reception in Child Hall on Sunday, May 1 following the 11:15 p.m. service, honoring David Fishburn for 25 years of dedicated service to the Cathedral as Associate Organist/Choirmaster.

Director of Youth Ministries accepts chaplaincy position
Brandon Peete, the Director of Youth Ministries, has accepted a position as chaplain at All Saints Episcopal School in Tyler, Texas. At All Saints Brandon will teach Senior Theology, 7th Grade Old Testament, and 8th Grade New Testament classes in addition to officiating four chapel services per week. Brandon will also serve his curacy at Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler, under the leadership of the Rev. David Luckenbach. Learn more. |
Cathedral website named best in design!
Nan Ross (left) and Ann Fowler give each other a thumbs up for certificates of achievement awarded at the annual Episcopal Communicators meeting in Memphis, TN on Saturday, April 9. Ann, the Director of Communications for the Cathedral of St. Philip, won the award of excellence for the Cathedral's website design. Nan, the Director of Communication for the Diocese of Atlanta, won the award of merit for Pathways, the diocese's quarterly journal.

Our Spring 2011 Habitat project continues each Saturday through April 30, excluding Easter weekend. If you have built before, come join again. If you have never built, come be part of this exciting ministry. No skills required, just your enthusiasm. We will give you the tools and training that you need to make a contribution.
